Hello allcoms,
Hi Jeremy (+ LAU)!
( btw its Dan aka danboid please - dunno why the list doesn't 'see' my name
as it seems to be input in my gmail settings? Anyway.. )
You mean the the standalone version? The LinuxVST
plug-in works well here
(compiled from the Distrho source tarball) with Qtractor 0.5.1 (compiled
with the Steinberg VST headers).
No, I did mean the LinuxVST version. I must admit I've not tried TAL-NM
under qtractor compiled w/ Steinberg headers yet but I have the same
problems using the lxvst plugin under A3 svn as I do under Renoise which
seems to be regarded as the 'gold standard' of Linux native VST hosts. If
you want to see the problem I'm referring to then you should try these
presets:
DR Kick Nuuuu TAL
or
DR Perc Tommer TAL
Then see if the JACK connection to your host (qtractor) survives. These
aren't the only presets that cause problems for me but I've yet to compile a
comprehensive list or even try them all.

48Khz although it should work at 96Khz+ according

I thought it time to check on here to see if anyone was thinking about or
has already started on porting NoiseMaker to LV2? It would be a superb
boost
to LV2 and Linux Audio in general and would allow NoiseMaker to enter the
repositories of the popular distros.
The guy(s) @ Distrho is/are working on an LV2 wrapper thingy. But that's
something else than a port of course. Well, just FYI ;)
Hmm! falktx didn't mention this to me. I'm not sure how well this would work
and I think a proper LV2 port would still be for the best.
I never heard back from Vember Audio re a lxvst port of Shortcircuit nor
has
Kunitoki replied to me re getting HighLife lxvst to work so as it stands
Highlife is x86 32bit only ie if you can't get the plugin on the DiscoDSP
download page to work you're SOL right now.
64bit does work but not with all samples, you get those weird Wav chunk
errors. And even if they load it doesn't make any sound. But you're not SOL
if the 32bit plug-in from DiscoDSP doesn't work, you can compile it yourself
and maybe it will work then.
I can't say I've tried compiling it myself under a 32bit OS yet although I
certainly do get those dreaded wav chunk errors with every wav file I've
tried when I compiled it myself under Deb Wheezy x64 and falktx seemed
confident that exactly the same would happen if I compiled Highlife under a
32bit Linux- he insists Highlife is plain broke. We suspect the version
available on DiscoDSP has had some extra patches applied by Kunitoki to fix
loading of wavs etc. that never got upstreamed and as I said earlier
Kunitoki has been non-responsive to my requests for info on this.
On top of that petri-foo dev has
been put on hold but that doesn't fulfil my
requirements anyway as its not
an LV2. As a result I have been left with no other option than to look
into
coding a simple LV2 sampler myself although this is currently at early
planning stages and means I finally have to bite the bullet and finally
actually learn the unlearnable monstrosity that is C++!
Did you check the Composite LV2 plug-in? Haven't looked at it in a long
time so no idea where it's at right now. And FluidSynth is no option either?
Swami is quite easy for creating you're own soundfonts and by now the Calf
LV2 FluidSynth plug-in should work ok at different sample rates (haven't
checked that one in a long time either).
I should've said - the first thing I need to do is have another look at
composite. I can't remember now if it would only load Hydrogen kits or if it
handled individual, regular wavs too which is basically what I'm after. It
would make much more sense for me to try writing a composite GUI and/or
adapting it to my needs that starting from scratch, for sure!
I tried the Calf LV2 fluidsynth plugin a couple of months ago and it had a
weird bug where when you re-load you session the soundfont is played back a
couple of octaves higher than it should. I told Mr Foltman about it but he
seems to have lost all interest in LV2s and offered no suggestions as to
what could be causing the problem.
So no, we still lack a simple, functional LV2 sampler complete with GUI!
Before anyone pipes up - linuxsampler is NOT an option. LS and I have
never
seen eye to eye nor have I ever got it working properly anyway. Its just a
complicated mess that won't load a simple wav.
Wish me luck!
I will, I'd really like a good working simple sampler plug-in too.
Thanks!
Dan
