This is the 3rd beta of the upcoming Carla 2.0 release.
There have been quite a few nice features implemented since beta2.
- Internal patchbay mode
- Carla as VST plugin (Linux only)
- Carla LMMS plugin
- New and updated skins
- Old non-skin mode
To download binaries or source code, jump into the KXStudio downloads
section. [1]
If you're using the KXStudio repositories, you can simply install
"carla-git" instead (plus "carla-lv2" and "carla-vst" if
you're so
inclined).
Bug reports and feature requests are welcome! Jump into the Carla's
Github project page for those. [2]

A few problems (please send me somewhere else, if this is the wrong
place to ask).
I downloaded Carla-2.0beta3b-linux32.tar.xz, extracted and copied
carla.vst into my vst path (~/.vst). I added paths to my sfz and windows
vst (used with reaper) in the configuration dialog. All this is using
renoise 3.0.1.
1) There seems to be something fishy going on. On first attempt I had no
sound, then after fidling around and also started the standalone carla
things started working.
2) The sustain pedal is not working with sfz files
3) Loaded synth1, and it seems to work. However I can't see my presets,
I guess it's a path thing. Seem to remember some strange install routine
when installing synth1 the first time, any idea?
Some general debug info:
When adding a new instance of CarlaRack I get this in the terminal that
started renoise (esp the last line, which is printed in read, might be
worth looking into):

It seems to work fine, I can edit through synth1 gui, and the changes
are there the next time I load the song in renoise. However about 30% of
the time renoise takes a long time to load the song and I get a timeout
error:

Do a small search before reporting something.
If you see a bug/feature-request that you're interested in, leave a
comment so that I know more people are interested on it.
That way it might be done faster. ;)

Not sure about this, need more details...
But running carla as plugin before running the standalone will not
display LV2 plugins.
You need to run carla (standalone) and add a plugin at least once.
This won't be needed in the final 2.0 version, but it is for now.
2) The sustain pedal is not working with sfz files
I had other reports of this too.
I changed quite a bit of the linuxsampler code in carla in the last beta
(trying to optimize memory usage),
so it's very likely something got broke.

You mean synth1 the windows vst
plugin, right?
If yes, then it's kinda expected. plugin-bridges (needed to get windows
plugins running in linux-carla) are a work-in-progress.
The next beta should have them working much smoother, I'm finishing up
that work now.
Anyway, this issue is very likely caused by synth1 having too many presets.
I need to add a limit like the one for the maximum-parameters.
For the timeout issues, decrease the maximum parameter value to say 30
and they should go away.
(the new code I'm working on doesn't have this limitation)

beta. Then I'll take it step by step and report any issues the right
way. Sounds like a plan?
One question, though. If I wanna reproduce the "first run"-strangeness,
I need to clear out all config files, both of carla-standalone and vst
plugin. Where do I find those configs?
