Hello everyone! this should have been released months ago. But I thought I might write and record the complete lyrics. Now it turns out, this makes no sense and so here it is: (Sometimes) Less is more (than More) or Slim(TM), as I nicknamed it. :-) http://juliencoder.de/nama/slim.ogg or: http://juliencoder.de/nama/slim.mp3 You can as always go to the website as well: http://juliencoder.de/nama/music.html Even though the piece had been in this state for some considerable amount of time, it still took some time to write and record. In this case I once again involved csound for some pseudo-3D work and sample construction. Feedback and comments are welcome as ever. Hello Philipp! Thanks, what an enthusiastic critique. :-) What can I say? I suppose it just takes getting used to that form of music and then you can bend it to your will. Remember, that this was preceded by a few years of music and believe me, there was some experimentation with not so good results there too. :-) The crickets are sampled, but then I loaded them into csound and moved them in space a bit. As to the recording side, this is all due to Nama. I had to delve a little deeper into Nama's features to realise it and it was fun! Using loads of new features at the time to make it possible. Hi Rosea1 I did everything myself, since there's noone else to do it. :-) That's something I learnt on an LAC: If you want it done, and you can't: Then learn how to. :-) I used LinuxSampler for the piano, tron, glockenspiel and brass. Hydrogen for the drums. Aeolus for the organ - few as there is. My Korg TR76 for the strings, bass and synthpad. Beatrix for the hammond. the Clavia Nordlead for the lead sounds and some samples + csound for effects and atmosphere. Hi Rosea! I used the Studio DrumKit from NI, if I'm not mistaken. The Drumkit from hell is for LinuxSampler and I like it that way. I'm afraid it's a little difficult to find this drumkit. You may be picky with your drum sound but I'm picky with my nature sound, so I just had to investigate. I went to a field where I know that there are lots of crickets, but it was recently mowed and there was less going on. Anyway, I noticed that most crickets around here chirp for 1-2 seconds with longer breaks, similar to the ones in the background around minute 3. I walked around some more and found one that indeed chirped similar to the one near the end of the song. The little chirper chirped very loud and for a minute straight! The weirdest thing was that despite trying for a while I couldn't quite locate him. I gave up with my best guess being that the little chirper was sitting in a tree, laughing his antennas off while watching me twist and turn my head. The sample on wikipedia is weird, it's the first cricket I heard that couldn't chirp straight :) (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/Field_cricket_Gryllus_pe…)

I tend to forget a bit about the possibilities of multitrack recording, especially that nama is very capable. Oh, and I have a hard time imagining this song with vocals. Thanks for sharing this song, from those I heard from you so far I like this one the best. Regards, Philipp
