qjackctl is running with jackdmp.... is it a
problem that it isn't jackd?
i dont know,
never used it that way,
try it out.
at least it says that it cant connect,
so check twice your setup (same user, and so on)
check it with other jack applications,
as long as fweeling cant connect to jack,
it wont do anything.

you should try asking the freewheeling mailing list - jp and others
monitor it fairly well.

I'll do that, thanks. I think it has something to do with jackdmp and
jackd which are both installed...

I solved the problem by removing jackdmp and use jackd instead. Is there
a way to configure jackdmp in the way is also works with freewheeling?

as has been mentioned, no other JACK client is known that has any issue
with jackdmp. so whatever the problem is would appear to be
freewheeling-specific, which is why it was suggested that you ask on the
FW mailing list.

One thing I noticed is that jackdmp seems to require more memory.
Some apps fail with cryptic error messages such as 'Unidentified
exception' when an allocation fails, some may go on and just
crash for mysterious reasons. I had this with LinuxSampler when
switching from jack to jackdmp, and increasing the memlock limit
solved the problem.
