Patrick,
I write this not for dissecting your offer or with any bad intentions
at all. You had complained that no one seems to be interested in your
job offer. All I want is to help you understand the possible
shortcomings of your offer. That's all.

And you should have grasped already that your job offer does not
comply with the standards we have here for job offers. It is obscure,
dubious an the complete opposite of a "high recommendation". That's
the issue!
However if you had your own car and you liked driving it why would you
want to use a company car?
Costs, their calculability and your liquidity! If you get a company
car *everything* is covered. Every repair, the fuel, insurance etc.
You just have to pay income taxes on 1% of the car's resell list price
each year. So the cost of using a company car is absolutely
predictable. Compare this to the situation in which you use your own
car for your job even if you get a bit more money:
* You have to pay each repair, new tires etc.
* You can't even set those costs off against tax liability if your
using your private car
* What if the car breaks completely? Will you have to pay for a new
one just for keeping your job?
* You bind a lot of cash in an object that loses value
=> you take all the risk that your employer should take if you need a
car for doing the job. The actual price of using the car is not
predictable.
FYI, previous persons who had similar roles in other
parts of Europe had
very nice sports cars which they drove from place to place. They were not
company cars and they were definitely not complaining about their
salaries.
The fiscal handling of company cars is very different in other
European countries as far as I know.
The simple truth is that giving away too much
information on this list is
just not viable. You have already seen the "uber" negative response with a
choice selection of information.

tell you for a while, the information you gave just didn't seem

Sorry for the pun, but how bad can that job be if you think you would
get negative responses if we knew what it is? I don't understand this.
People round here find it enjoyable to
spend their time dissecting and criticizing every single Plank Length of
anything they perceive as not meeting their agenda.
On the contrary, it's not enjoyable at all. As I mentioned above, all
I try to do is help you understand why your job offer might not be as
attractive as you think so that you might rephrase it in a proper way.

Just in case anyone is still interested and you haven't been scared off by
all the negativity emanating from the list, I have spoken with my contacts
and they have agreed that it's no problem to provide a company vehicle if
requested.
So, If you are looking for an interesting salaried job working with Linux
(audio) and audio/multimedia technology which also has the opportunity for
driving around Germany to interesting locations with the option of a
company vehicle which comes highly recommended by a long time LAU/LAD
contributor then this may just be the one for you.
I'm not sure there is much more that can be said in public on this list
but feel free to keep flinging ideas my way. Do you need coffee and
cigarettes too or donuts and sausages? IIUC Germans like to boil your
sausages right? Maybe we can include a portable broiler in the vehicle for
times when you need a quick break? Or maybe we should have an allowance
for monthly beer expenses. I here that you Germans are fond of beer. So
driving the company car at high speed on the autobahn while drinking
copious amounts of free beer and eating boiled sausages should be a pretty
tempting deal right?

It is highly recommended to use latest source or binary distribution of
GSequencer latest is for now v0.5.3 which
fixes recent introduced dead-locks and a memory leak caused by not freed
config values retrieved.

Just in case anyone is still interested and you haven't been scared off by
all the negativity emanating from the list, I have spoken with my contacts
and they have agreed that it's no problem to provide a company vehicle if
requested.
So, If you are looking for an interesting salaried job working with Linux
(audio) and audio/multimedia technology which also has the opportunity for
driving around Germany to interesting locations with the option of a
company vehicle which comes highly recommended by a long time LAU/LAD
contributor then this may just be the one for you.
I'm not sure there is much more that can be said in public on this list
but feel free to keep flinging ideas my way. Do you need coffee and
cigarettes too or donuts and sausages? IIUC Germans like to boil your
sausages right? Maybe we can include a portable broiler in the vehicle for
times when you need a quick break? Or maybe we should have an allowance
for monthly beer expenses. I here that you Germans are fond of beer. So
driving the company car at high speed on the autobahn while drinking
copious amounts of free beer and eating boiled sausages should be a pretty
tempting deal right?

To be at least a little bit constructive, here's what serious job offers

of it, and the level of detail of company and job information that will
allow people to judge if it makes sense for them to apply:

"Get in touch by private mail for any details at all" is really a bit
ominous - do you really want to play it even remotely like a mail scam?
The absolute minimum of information I would require to take anybody's
job offer seriously is the name and location of the company, the
business sector, and least a brief job description and/or employee profile.
With that information out in the open, you might then also consider to
use other forums in addition to LAU to get a wider range of possible
candidates. Salary details are not usually discussed in job offers,
unless it is a public offering where salaries comply to some legal
regulation, in which case the applicable tariff is mentioned.
Beer and driving are not among the key issues when discussing potential
jobs, nor is the offer of a free company dirndl going to significantly
increase the number of female applicants.

Maybe it's a matter of alleged German efficiency to not react on
obscure job offers unless you desperately need a job ;-)
I estimate that leaves approximately 200 or so Germans
or people who live
in Germany on the list who have not voiced an opinion. I think there is a
fair chance that at least one of them will be suitable for the role or
know someone who is. If only 5 of them are genuinely interested that would
be a pretty good selection to choose from.

I know which I
would try and attract!
I am mostly interested in giving an opportunity to someone who is a member
of the Linux Audio community. There are several good reasons for that but
probably the most important is that if there is a desperate Linux Audio
Peep out there then, IMO this is a good job which doesn't come up for
grabs very often and if that person wanted it and was the right person for
the role it would be a good thing for both them, me and by extension the
Linux Audio Community.
Now, if you or anyone else thinks that giving people round here some

What is painfully clear from this thread is that if this list is
representative of the wider market in Germany then a large number of you
folks over there are not feeling the heat like the rest of Europe. You
might consider it to be because of careful planning and German
resoluteness but other people in other parts of Europe see a massive
imbalance tilted in favour of Germany and Banksters rigging the system to
your advantage.
It's highly likely that if the Grexit happens they will bypass the
conventional monetary system and go for a crypto currency. A comparison is
a bit like moving away from coal/nuclear to a distributed solar and wind
energy infrastructure.
If that comes to pass there will be a major crises of confidence in normal
currencies and the Banksters won't be able to control the flow of
cash/resources to the same degree they do now.

You've hit the nail. As many posters have by now pointed out,
the way your job offer is formulated (compare that e.g. to the
examples that Joern pointed to in his post) makes it appeal to
desperados only. And desperate people are always the ones being
exploited. That and only that makes the offer look suspect.
I'm not saying there *is* anything wrong with it, only that you
very much make it look that way.
