Hey,
I'm diving into cvs for the first time, so please excuse my ignorance.
I'm trying to compile ardour, but after running autogen.sh, I get an
error saying that I don't have autopoint correctly installed. I tried
apt-getting autopoint, but it doesn't seem to exist. I googled for it,
and came up with nil. The only reference to it is that it has some
connection with gettext. However, gettext is correctly installed
(I even uninstalled it and reinstalled) yet I still come up empty
handed.
Does anyone have a clue of why this is happening or where I can
get a hold of autopoint?

Rob,
There's a tool required called gettext that seems to come up a bit
when people talk about this problem. I think you can get it from the
PlanetCCRMA site. (Or probably lots of other places.)

I had to rpm --erase gettext on my rh 7.3 system and build/install gettext
from the source tarball:

You might also check on the PlannetCCRMA site which
has a very complete list of the necessary depends
(regardless of your distro).

According to my research, the autopoint application is called
gettextize in new packages. I think I remember that a symlink from
/usr/bin/autopoint to /usr/bin/gettextize worked for me once.

Right, at least in Debian distributions, autopoint is present in the
version 0.11.5 (unstable) of the package gettext, but not in the
stable 0.10.40 version. A backport to woody would be very useful.

Thanks, but I think by now I am not including unstable in my
sources.list. If dependencies are not so many, better if I compile a
newer gettext version from its source tarball.
