Hi there,
I am running a radio show on a local radio station where I am
broadcasting interviews. For cutting these interview I am looking for
some software to get this task done under LINUX.
In the past I used a tool called ddclip under Windows, but I completely
switched over to LINUX. What I need now is a software to cut the
interview in pieces, remove unwanted stuff and put it all together
again. Some DSP effects would be nice to.
I tried to get ardour to work, but didn't succeed yet.
Is there any other LINUX software around?

Hi Ralf:
You might want to look at Sweep, it allows non-contiguous editing that
could save you a lot of time and effort. Audacity, Snd, and ReZound are
also good choices, but try Sweep first.

Yes, I also think sweep is a good choice. It is one of the nicest editors
with only one problem: I cannot edit really large files (larger than
memory)
So for the usual 3-5 minutes interview it is fine, but don't try it on a
20 minutes stereo feature.
I think, I will also use sweep for fine tuning the LAD report ;) but to cut
the hopefully long interviews, I'll use Snd or maybe Audacity (which I
never liked in the past, but, man, has it come far!)

Am I the only one who finds Sweep and Audacity unstable?
The only thing I could use productively on my box has been ReZound.

Audacity 1.1.x is unstable too. Only 1.20 will be stable ;-)

Audacity is stable and simple, and it looks as if it will do all you
need.

New subject: [linux-audio-user] xmms plugin to slow down music
hello,
i'm looking for a XMMS plugin to allow music to be slowed down without
changing the pitch. i'm a musician, i have a windows program called the
Amazing Slow Downer that works well, but its really on of my last
excuses for having a Windows machine. i have a XMMS plugin called
RepeatIt that allows the looping of a section of an MP3. it works well,
but sometimes a passage is just to fast and i need to slow it down to
catch it all.

It works fine for me, I use it to follow fast passages in classical music
and also transpose to my key.
You should also be able to use LADSPA plugins with xmms_ladspa:
