I'm trying to build MPlayer as a Debian package, following the instructions on this
page => http://www.princessleia.com/MPlayer.php
It worked the first time around, but didn't have JACK support.
Now, I'm trying it again - after installing bio2jack from source plus the libbio2jack0
and libjack0.80.0-dev packages - and including " --enable-jack
--with-bio2jack=/usr/local/lib/ " in the DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS variable.
configure runs fine, but make fails with the following error:
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/local/lib/libbio2jack.so when searching for
-lbio2jack
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/local/lib/libbio2jack.a when searching for
-lbio2jack
My /usr/local/lib/libbio2jack.so points to /usr/local/lib/libbio2jack.so.0.8.0
The bio2jack package I installed from source is also version 0.8 - why then is libbio2jack
"incompatible"?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
P.S. I've tried the unofficial mplayer package for debian from
http://marillat.free.fr/ but it failed to run (..with errors such as "Bad CPU
usage" or something like that, if I recall correctly), and I forgot to check if it
was compiled with JACK support or not.

Just to update,
Someone on another mailing-list pointed out that installing both the bio2jack package from
source _and_ the Debian libbio2jack package could cause conflicts (..I had originally
installed the _two_ packages because libbio2jack0 (..which I had installed first)
didn't contain libbio2jack.a - which was required), so I removed the two packages,
installed just bio2jack manually from source, and tried again.
This time, it failed with a different error:
libao2/libao2.a(ao_jack.o): In function `init':
ao_jack.c:(.text+0x2f4): undefined reference to `JACK_GetJackLatency'
libao2/libao2.a(ao_jack.o): In function `reset':
ao_jack.c:(.text+0x476): undefined reference to `JACK_GetJackLatency'
Any ideas? Do other readers have JACK support for MPlayer on DeMuDi/Debian? Suggestions
for other video players with JACK support? Personally, I have no trouble just shutting
jackd down while I watch video, but other users of the computer are less au-fait with
these things than myself.

Hi David!
I don't know if anyone answered your question yet. But here is something,
which may most probably help.
Did you use mplayer's latest release/snapshot? If not try at:
www.mplayerhq.hu
Usually they build fine with me. You'll need a lot of libs (-devel packages
included) to get it running, also don't forget to download the
all-somedate.tar.bz2 package from the mplayer page. It's on the download page
(where you find all the mplayer-source links). It's below that, go on the
codecs page (they are very helpful).
But the new mplayer versions _DON'T_ need libbio2jack anymore. Just a full
jack-installation. Worked fine for me and a few other lads I know.
Hope that helps. If you've got some more questions, just shoot. I can't read
my mails very often, but I'll surely keep an eye on it.
