Hi all!!
I need to use timidity as demon, but I can't find the right way... i.e. I have to
backgrounding it to make rosegarden play midi files, or to let denemo to play what i'm
writing.
Can you help me?

Are you using the old version of Rosegarden for this? If you are using
Rosegarden4 you are better off using the builtin sequencer.

unfortunately I have a Creative PCI 128, and it hasn't an integrate MIDI... so I have
to emulate it...

I don't know midi very well...
I have a SB PCI 128 that has not the wave table built in.
Before install Demudi, I tryed to make Rosegarden plays midi through timidity, and I
don't remember how I did it...
Now with timidity -iA I can see only
TiMidity starting in ALSA server mode
Opening sequencer port: 130:0 130:1 130:2 130:3
But if I try to connect rosegarden sequencer to any of timidity port I can't ear
anything.
Probably I've misunderstood how Midi works...

Now let's do the midi part:
First start it again as midiserver as you did before. Next you have to connect
the sequencer to the midi input, so that the notes know where to go. Start
the sequencer program "rosegarden4" or "muse" which are both very
nice. Than
juse "qjackctl" which is a nice graphical frontend for midi and audio routing
trough alsa and connect the midi out of rosegarden4 to the timidity -iA
client. If you play the midi file in the sequencer the notes get routed to
the timidiy and then timidity should perform some music.
