Hi,
I'm looking for softwares to practice improvisation, chords grids,
beat/mesures following, etc.
I found on or two interesting apps, but I want to know of your experiences :)
someone know of good web site for ressources, drums rythmes, grid files, etc ?
for example, hydrogen seems really usefull, but I found no web sites with a
lot of h2song files.

I totally agree. It would be fantastic to exchange hydrogen files, from
instance from famous songs. Let me know if you convince them.

Greetings:
Some useful apps are listed at linux-sound.org, look under the
Musicians Utilities section.
There are tons of MIDI files out on the net, I often download files
for arranging songs for my students. Some files need no work at all,
others require massive participation. ;)
I also like to write drum and bass parts for my students. I can work
quickly with a sequencer like seq24, it's a very simple matter to whack
out a few tracks as accompaniment parts. Nice to be able to alter tempo,
loop, and transpose at will.

I praqctice improvising by recording myself comping. I usually do this
in audacity. Then I select sections I may want to work on. If I want a
slower version I just record it slower. This sounds like a pain in the
butt but it just gives me more practice at playing the chord changes. I
believe that this will ultimately help me to play around the changes
because I will know them better from playing them more often. Then I can
overdub my improvisation to later pick out things that I did that I
thought were cool. So many time I improvise but can't remeber what I
played after I finished.

Its the free MMA (Musical MIDI Accompaniment) prog. I use it to

Singing your lines unisono can help you memorize stuff a little
better. I'm
sure it will also add to your playing itself.
I like your approach. Did you ever try it the other way round?
