Hi1
Is there any chance to play swf-videos on the commandline? I tried mplayer,
but it told me, that the format was not exactly supported. Is there probably
some kind of windows-dll or linux .so I can get somewhere and copy in my
mplayer's codes-directory?

theres lots of tools get junk out of swf files (apt-cache search swf, esearch swf, etc)
if its really a flv file, mplayer can usually play it, provided you have a recent ffmpeg
it definitelty chokes on some videos - turn down the volume first!

Hi!
I tried:
apt-cache search swf, found some libs and flash-player(s0 + flash-plugins, but
no direct utility to cleanup flash.
anyone knows anything, that might help?
What I'm trying to do is watch some flash-video from youtube with mplayer.
Because I can ONLY work in the console, I can't use macromedia's flashplayer
or the gstreamer-plugin.
Can anyone point me towards a package that can help me there?

theres a package called Clive, which is designed to watch youtube from the commandline
apt-get install clive

some times ago hier on the list someone introduced 'youtube-dl' which is
kind of script, so you can download the .flv movie from the you-tube and
than watch with mplayer in much better quality. i was using this always
if i wanted to watch y-t video.
but now, since last week:

Other typical problems:
Video no longer exists.
Video requires age confirmation but you did not provide an account.
You provided the account data, but it is not valid.
The connection was cut suddenly for some reason.
YouTube changed their system, and the program no longer works.
Try to confirm you are able to view the video using a web browser.
Use the same video URL and account information, if needed, with this
program.
When using a proxy, make sure http_proxy has http://host:port format.
Try again several times and contact me if the problem persists.

so i think that youtube changed something, so it is not working in the
moment either this way.
i ll have a look into google, if i can find a newer version of this one!

yeah, indeed the newer version rocks again:
http://www.arrakis.es/~rggi3/youtube-dl/
download it here, make the file executable:
'chmod u+x youtube-dl' and copy it to /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin.
than enter the youtube page you wanna watch and paste the url in the
terminal, sth like:
youtube-dl http//......
when finched, mplayer does the rest!

yes, youtube changed something about a week ago and it broke javimoya.com, my
greasemonkey->mplayerplug-in script, clive, and youtube-dl.
im too lazy to downgrade my kernel to 32bit-capable and install the flash plugin and ngrep
around to figure out the new flv link and associated cookie/sessionID tricks necessary,
youtube video just isn't that important..and the quality is such shit
heres to torrents..

the remote server environment. Perhaps the same?
