Apologize, it wasn't intended to send this mail off-list and to send
another reply 2 times in different versions. Since Evolution doesn't
work for my Ubuntu Studio Quantal, I need to use another MUA and Claws
doesn't always do what I want it to do.
FWIW, I can't make all the RME emails public and it wouldn't be from
interest, but perhaps somebody once want to read the RME forums. Not
interesting until now.

So hey, what's wrong with that logic? :)
RME could help ALSA coders, since RME seems to be a little bit
interested in the Linux market. IIUC they seem to like it, that unpaid
coders are writing drivers and they only need to sell their products,
but they aren' interested to help. This policy is high-grade
unethical.

High-grade unethical? Only if you tend to overreact.
Perhaps you are not seeing things as an entrepreneur? Maybe you could
try to think in terms of ROI? Could it be that the amount of sales
they get doesn't cover expenses for R&D and support?
You might as well blame Adobe for not supporting people who run
Photoshop via WINE. But I digress.
Personally, I own a Focusrite device for which I don't have an
official technical support either. In the few cases I had to contact
the support service, they were most helpful, as much as they could. I
don't have a problem with that, but then maybe I'm just not looking
for offences?

Who are these people?
Are they Linux Audio Users and Developers or just random Linux users who
have a notebook ar consumer grade cmipci/ntel chipset or standards
compliant usb device that works with pulseaudio and occasionally dabble
with jack?
The biggest barrier for wider adoption of Linux Audio as a platform for
"general purpose" professional audio is lack of interest from the "big
boys" in the audio industry to actively participate in the development
process and community.
When it comes to very specific high end application of Linux Audio
especially in professional hardware solutions things have never been
better. Adoption by the big boys in the audio hardware industry is a solid
growth market.
RME's official policy for a while is that they don't provide support for
Linux Users. Ralf has not flagged anything new here. I'm surprised that he
didn't know this already. However the strange thing is that RME continue
to be one of the most well supported manufacturers of high end
professional grade Linux Audio Devices so someone at RME is being helpful
to someone in the LAD community.
Most likely their support department just don't want to deal with Ralf
Maldorf. Perhaps his reputation proceeds him ;-)

Very unlikely. Nearly nobody knows me, the man who replied isn't a Linux
expert himself. If they should know me at RME, while I don't think they
know me, than perhaps through other connections, but the Linux
community, perhaps Brauner -> Studio Mag -> RME or something similar
abstruse and I guess my reputation as engineer is unknown (most likely)
or very good :p and nobody cares about what I said on a Linux mailing
list. I doubt that they know my bad reputation I get from a hand full of
Linux people or good reputation from known engineers, while at least one
from LAU is VDT, so there are intersections, but anyway ... do you
really think they are talking about me ;). Also doubtful that those
Linux people have got a better reputation than I've got in Germany's
audio land ;).
Serious, you can assume that they don't know me and even if they should,
they won't care about my bad or good reputation and they would answer
you the same as they answered me.
I got the information that RME gives all needed information to ALSA
developers. If something is missing, I should write it to RME. They are
doing it since 10 years now.
