Hello all,
I'm currently getting to know ardour (3.5 on Ubuntu Studio 14.04) and
wondered if there's anyone on the list interested in being a one-day
guru, answering smart and silly questions alike?
I do usually look up the online manual before asking, but sometimes
normal searching gets me nowhere...
For now, 3 questions that's been bugging me:
1. Is there a way to click and drag or similar to navigate back and
forth along tracks? There's a click and drag "navigator" at the bottom
of the screen, but with many tracks I find it hard to move only
sideways, and not also up or down.
2. How to undo region deleting? Must be something obvious that escapes
my eye...
3. How to access session undo history, and restore things done in
previous sessions?

You're aware of the 3 manuals? Please document
your experience, or
even better - add it to the manual(s).

Not sure about this.
Personally I have some Ardour experience, but I'm nowhere near an
advanced user. I'll chime in with answers to questions I know the
answer to.. and will probably be more motivated in doing so if it
indirectly improving the manuals :)

Will do my best to document, improving manuals is a good thing. Though I
didn't see any obvious info on how or where to do that. So this list
will serve the purpose for now.

It has taken me some time to get used to but I am gradually getting
comfortable with the navigation slider on the bottom. I also use arrow
keys to skip to the next region more than I used to. Between those methods
I find I can get where I'm gong in a reasonable time. There are also other
key combinations for navigating, but I have not memorized them.

I just tested this is creating and removing location markers and the undo
history carried over after closing and re-opening the project.

The region list! Of course!
I sometimes forget about the region list because I got in the habit of
hiding it at some point. When I used to work with Logic I would create and
mute a track named "siding" (a reference to tracks in a rail yard that
don't go anywhere but hold cars during switching) with all of the audio I
wanted at hand but wasn't currently using. The region list makes that
redundant.
