Hello,
I tried to connect MAudio USB audio interface Sonica on my Compaq Laptop with
vector Linux. the light on Sonica is tunred ON meaning that it used
electricty from USB port, but I cannot hear any sound. DO you know how to
set up Sonica to work under Linux?

You need a firmware loader, which doesn't currently exist.

Maybe you should ask M Audio if they plan to cooperate with the
community on Linux support for this particular device. Doesn't hurt

I still think approaching M Audio is worth a try. If they know people
are actually buying their hardware to use specifically on Linux-based
systems then they might be inclined to work on a Linux/ALSA-friendly
firmware loader themselves, rather than just release specs for
someone else to write it.
I bought a Delta 1010 just because of the (third-party) Linux support
for the device, so there's a few dollars they can put into a firmware
loader straight away...

driver for Sonica in Windows and have firmware in TEMP directory. What
should I do with it in order to get Sonica work in Linux.?

care if you're playing with this stuff. I don't think M-Audio will give out their
base firmware loader to 'recover' a busted unit. It cost me shipping and a whole
bunch of time and money for long distance phone calls to tech support to get mine back in
order. Wee!

And the last time Clemens and I tried this, I had to RMA my Sonica. The DFU loader seemed
to have eaten the base firmware on the unit. The Sonica was detected as a
"unprogrammed" USB device (it's device IDs changed). Needless to say, the
M-Audio tech support was really baffled and tried to get me to re-install the Sonica
drivers a few dozen times. :P
