Could you please recommend the best OSS midi application out there.
There's so many applications, I wouldn't know where to start.

I think everyone here will recommend to use Alsa if that is possible for you.
What app do you need? Sequencer? Notation? Filter? Drumloops?
Midiloops? Synth? Sampler?
