Leftclick and hold then drag the end/beginning as needed. You can also trim you recordings as needed by splitting a region (hold hand-tool above the point in a selectet region and press S). This will give you 2 independent represenations of your recording that can be trimmed the way abovementioned. Keep in Mind that ardour is NO destructive Waveeditor - you edit graphically presented pointers to your wavefiles that say: play file001 as the cursor reaches second 12.0077 from sample 0 to sample 12224355 you can change such commands by trimming/dragging/splitting regions at will to say things like: if you drag: play file001 as the cursor reaches second 23.810 from sample 0 to sample 12224355 if you trim: play file001 as the cursor reaches second 23.810 from sample 210 to sample 1110223 or if you split: play file001 as the cursor reaches second 23.810 from sample 210 to sample 3456 then the very same file as the cursor hits second 121.001 from sample 3412 to sample 1110223 You can normalize a region and then lower its gain like this: Edit/Misc Shortcuts/cut region gain ??? You can revive simple erased regions by using undo. tipp: the range-tool is somewhat different then in Audacity or others. (it looks like a double arrow pointing left and right, with vertical lines at the end of the arrow points) * in any selected track, click and drag right or left with that tool (the Select/Move ranges tool) to select a small range within the track, near the beginning or end, for example. * right-click within the selected range and from the pop-up menu select "Extend range to end of region" or "Extend range to beginning of region." * choose Edit-->Delete, or press the DELETE key on your keyboard. Another way to select a range: click in the "Range Markers" band above the tracks, and drag a range. Move the beginning and ending range markers that then appear in the Range Markers band to where you would like them. Move your mouse cursor near either the beginning or ending range marker, so that the marker is highlighted (changes color). Right-click and choose "Select Range." Then use the SHIFT and CONTROL keys and click beneath the tracks' titles to add or subtract tracks from the selection. Then, if you want to delete the range in the selected tracks, choose Edit-->Delete or press the DELETE key. This is one way to do it, anyway. :-) Steve
