It looks interesting on the web page, but it won't run (so far) on my
main Gentoo box. I'm going to try it later today, first under
Redhat/PlanetCCRMA and then Windows if I must.
BTW - I found this thread in the Forums section. It appears that one
of the main developers just joined the Army for a year?!?

There was a post to this effect on their forums, but it had no answer to
the problem other than to try downloading again, which I did.
I'll keep thrashing around a bit. Maybe there's a path to getting a new
default skins file somewhere. I might have seen that somewhere.

indeed corrupted. It's quite a large file with about 24 MB. Here's my
checksum of it:

I'm thinking that my Sk(a)leLinux.cfg file may have some problems. The
file itself looks like it needs to go through dos2unix or something. I
see lots of ^M's at the end of lines. Did you get that from unrar?

New subject: [linux-audio-user] gdam
Hi
I used to have Mandrake 9.1 on my laptop but after having problems with my USB-audiocard I
switched to Debian/Unstable. This solved the usb-audio issues but now I cannot run gdam
anymore. It compiles fine (the cvs-version), I can start it up, but as soon as I launch
one of the apps (like the "wheels"), it segfaults. Anyone experiencing the same
problem? Or, better, knowing a way to solve this problem?

I've got the same problem with all my USB sound card on MDK 9.1, but
actually it's the kernel which not supported usb sound card, it works on
9.0 and the bug will be fixed on the 9.2... I'm really a mandrake user
so I will wait but I will try it on Debian, just in case...
Sorry couldn't answer to your last question... but maybe someone know on
the list a solutions for the MDK 9.1 usb sound card problem without
recompil the kernel :-\

That's strange, I got my EMI 2|6 USB sound card working fine on a stock
Mandrake 9.1 installation on a Compaq motherboard. This was two days ago.
Plugged it in and played an .ogg file through xmms as the test.

Actually, I prefer Debian (I've been running it on my my desktop for
some years now). I only installed Mandrake at the the time because it
came with XFree 4.3. So, I'd rather someone could enlighten me on
fixing the problem within Debian (it's unstable that I'm running; maybe
it's just too much up-to-date).

For the source code I too would prefer a free license, but eh... it's their rights.
For the look of the app... it's techno 'n funky, so I believe the author(s)
has(ve) made a very good job.
I have successfully tried Skale on my redhat 8.0 (Planet CCRMA) although it has been
compiled on a redhat 9.
I have downloaded a demo song, it works good. I can't use the fx plugins, but as they
are named something.dll, I believe they are for the windows platform.

Naturally.... but speaking as someone who created a fair amount
of material in Buzz, which had a similar license but then the
author lost the original source code so there'll never be a new
version and Buzz will never quite work right under Wine, I'd
just as soon avoid that sort of experience again. It's not like
there's a shortage of "DOS-like" trackers for Linux already....
