Hey hey,
"The apprentice - hard studies" was composed for an audio game - and not
chosen :) -, the title says it all in terms of intent.
I tried to include one of Diana Duetsch's acoustic illusions in the
xylophone/marimba like pattern as a point of interest and something mildly
magical. :)

On the Linux side LinuxSampler with some free orchestral samples was involved
as well as loads of plugins for processing. The orchestral samples were mixed
with a hardware synth to get something a little more realistic. The strings
were also layered with a simple sine sound to give a little more girth and
resonance" to the instruments.

That URL didn't work for me. I had to put the video ID into youtube's
search box to find it (also, if you prefix the links in your email with
https://, it makes it easier for people to click them, since otherwise
not all mail clients will recognize the URL and turn it into a clickable
link).
The description of video contains two typos:
"[...]All abouit wiyards[..]
abouit -> about
wiyards -> wizards
Also, the picture is rotated 90° counterclockwise (which may be
intentional?),
And then there's ~20 sec. of silence at the end.
Apart from that, it was an enjoyable piece. I'd used more strings in the
second half, though.

Hi Chris,
first of all thanks for the compliment about the music. Do not be
offended if I say: that's a German answer if ever I saw one. :) You're
right of course and I am grateful to know to avoid a few things in
future.

It's rather difficult typing while the bloody screenreader all the time
is interupting with "Uploading video x%" and ontop not being able to
read on the braille display what you are typing, especially when you're
really used to that kind of feedback. Though you're still right and I
should persevere more.

No, alas it was not intentional. I simply wasn't able to verify
it.
Apparently someone had taken that picture "the wrong way round" and
youtube has reorientated it. I can just about manage to see such things
on the big tablet, but on that uploading to YT is simply out. :) Still,
it's another thing to keep on the watch list.

Lovely lovely marimba, eerie and defining (conveys a definite
"adventure gaming" feeling too). Pity now I can only listen to
it via crappy lappy speakers and not headphones, but very
good piece! Nice woodwind balance!
