Hello everyone,
I'm on the market for a small MIDI keyboard. Linux USB plug'n'play is of
course a must. What about these two :
Novation Remote SL Compact 25

I've had pretty good luck with the M-Audio Keystation keyboards... I
have one of the 49 key models, plugged it in and it worked out of the
box.

Hey Charles,
Generally as a rule of thumb, if a midi device describes itself as being
windows plug and play compliant (think the word used is 'Class Compliant'),
then it should work without a hitch in linux.
I have an M-audio Oxygen like Brett, the 61 key model and it works out of
the box for me.
Yes, I just looked on the link for the Novation and in the specs it says
Data Ports: 1 x USB MIDI (Win XP/Mac OSX class-compliant)
So both of them are class compliant, so either one of them should work
without a hitch in linux.

Which, frankly, is more than it does in Windows. I have two Carillon
Control 25s (clones of the M-Audio Oxygen 8 v1, as far as I can tell).
Linux picks them up without a hitch & works flawlessly with them.
Windows - even the shiny new Windows 7 Starter installation that came
with my netbook - doesn't seem to know *what* to do with them.

M-Audio 25 keys works fine in Linux, out of the box.

My M-Audio Axiom 25 is completely plug and play on linux, and for a 25
keyboard it is a pretty nice one. I would imagine that the Oxygen 25
would be about the same.
