No I don't mean 3/4 or 4/4.

In blues they play often 1-*-3 1-*-3 1 etc
* = no hit
or
1 2 3 4 | 1
etc.

Just FYI, eight-note triplets in 4/4 can also be notated as three
regular eight-notes in 12/8, but that's slightly over course.
