Has anyone ever owned a Digitech RP-10 (Guitar multi fx pedal)and have
some explicit info on the midi stuff within?
I'm trying to use the midi controllers on the RP-10 to control AMS
reverb and delay modules that run on my PA. I want to be able to simply
switch off reverb / delays between songs when I'm speaking on the mic.
I can get the volume pedal on the board to show as a continuous
controller and it pops up in the parameter window in AMS. But the switch
pedals, although assignable to midi, dont seem to show. The manual fro
the RP-10 states that the midi transmitted data will be from the pedal
on Ch 1 and that the other data it sends is "program change" data. That
is when you switch from one bank on the pedal to another. But it is not
recognized in AMS as is the CC pedal.
I'm no midi genius...I wonder what the "program change" data is and what
I might use to recognize it within linux audio?

Its noramlly used to switch between patches on synths. I have a midi
pedalboard that sends those too, I dont think many synths will use them
for control. It should be possible use a converter to turn them into CC's
or notes.

was functioning. Maybe in a very limited sense you could make a little
program at the command line that would do what's required here?

Surely there must be a simple way to have some app in existence
interpret that patch change data into something I can use as controller
data or "note on/ note off" even. Thats all I need to be able to toggle
a volume or similar parameter in AMS to control output of LADSAP plugs.
Hell...I'm beginning to think spdt switch on the audio cable!! This is
too hard! :) But then I will learn nuthing willnt I!!

I never have messed with PD muchly because it seemed difficult to play
with.
I'm installing as we speak and will begin messing things up.
In what way specifically do you think it is a solution?

Well within pd you could turn every midi data to something else. I dont know
anything about AMS (im just lurking here untill the day comes when i think
its time to make the big switch), but perhaps these reverb & delay effects
have a certain CC number?
Suppose it is that easy, then all you have to is put a program change object
in your patch and then add or substract untill you matchup the CC number,
and the values that you want out of it.
Mmh, maybe that doesnt sound to logical, but what you could do is have pd
transform a program change message to output a certain CC value to control
AMS.

Can you give me a starter on ho to set that up in PD? I installed it
last night. It's a bit abstract to figure out quickly.
Also, I use a midisport 2x2 USB midi box on my laptop. Everything else
sees it. In PD if I set 'midiindev 1 and midioutdev 1 (You have to
select 2 to get 1 for some strange reason) It does not complain about no
midi I/O but I dont see the device in Kaconnect or Qjackctl "connect"
window from PD.
