Hello again,
Several months ago, i tried qtractor and hydrogen2. In the following
music, i took an old cheap mono recording of children playing in the
street as a basis of the structure of a smooth jazz composition where
the leader is an oboe (well... an sf2 oboe in fluidsynth) and staff are
a piano, a zynadd softsynth, a Hexter (DX7) bass, and a harp.
I found qtractor very easy for mixing midi and audio.

I like it. The street recording adds a nice ambience, almost like a
subtle background instrument.

I liked both pieces. Alas the used sounds left something to be desired. :) I agree with
Chris about the children playing in the street. You used that sample very nicely.
I'd love to hear Heroine played live on a real piano or using one of the big, free
pianos for LinuxSampler.

Indeed, especially for the piano on heroine i think. Unfortunately i am
not a good piano player enough to follow the score at that pace.

around 2:50 and later some sampled sounds of what could be children are
used as percussive elements which, again IMHO, disrupts the integrity
of the purpose of having urban ambiance elements.
A nice simple theme that would benefit by being played without any
sequencer ! :)

They're from the 80s. Made one CD on Musea (Metz). It is textural,
certainly not upbeat, though.
