Does any of you know of a simpel audio editor(no multitrack or undestructing
editing) for editing and recording wav or mp3.
It should be able to do normalising and comp/limiting and I need to see the
actual wavefile, so that I have an impression on how much
limiting/compression I need to do.
I need it to be fast (single click normalising, single click limiting,
single click export)
It would be nice if it runs on both ubuntu and win xp(I cant skip xp because
I need to run Sibelius6)
I know sweep already..

If you don't care wither the software is free or not, there is always Gold
Wave. Works in Ubuntu in WINE perfectly.

Audacity does do basic multitracking, shouldn't get in your way or
make things more complex but I presume you knew about that anyway?
Have you tried Traverso? Again, it is a multitracker but its designed
with quick editing in mind and runs natively under XP and Leenooks.

Have you tried Traverso? Again, it is a multitracker

Normalize is indeed a key press away ( N ), export: double press enter or
click on the export button, to apply plugins you have to install an lv2 plugin
that does comp / limiting yourself, they aren't shipped with Traverso.
No lv2 plugins on windows though, afaik lv2 on windows isn't possible ( ?)
Recording to mp3 isn't possible atm, export to mp3 works (if Traverso was
compiled with mp3 encoding support which is not the default)

You are saying there is no plugin support what so ever in the windows
version?

Audacity is recomended ealier in your thread, but I will add some arguments
for it:
-It is very simple when you do simple things.
-Very easy to work with.
-It can do everything you ask for above in both Linux and Windows.

I tried audacity a couples of years ago and I guess we just got of on the
wrong foot. I´ve been trying audacity for the past couple of days and it
works very fine indeed.
I have some questions though, will start a new post..
