It's debian/testing based

Yes, sure , it's a better start when things don't work and you have to
fiddle around for day's to get your configuration right. :-)
And on debian/testing you don't need to be to angry for a update.
But it was only a suggestion, not a dictate. ;-)
If you prefer a other choice, it's well.
All very good reasons, BUT...
I think perhaps "install" was a bad choice of words on
Hermann's part. AVLinux can be run simply as a LiveCD.
If you run AVLinux and things "just work"... then it's a
probably a simple configuration issue. If they don't...
then you may be messing with something deeper (like lack of
a USB 2.0 controller or something).
At least, I mean both, I personally like the possibility to run a Live
CD/Dvd from a distro before I install it. This way I can see if it is
worth. But I mean also what you mention Gabriel, run it as check.
Thanks for clarification help.

In a similar way, when things "just work"
with a Knoppix
CD... but they don't work with my installed OS -- that was
helpful information to me.
BTW, Does Lucid have a RT kernel? I thought they were using
the .32 kernel (for which there is no RT patch).
Peace,
Gabriel
