Hi all
I realise this is not the place to ask such a question but rather than
subscribing to yet another forum I ask first just in case.
I have demudi working now, all except it turning the machine off. It
goes to shut down the last line on the screen is Power Down but then it
just sits there. I have to physically turn it off.
any ideas?

not positive, but my son sometimes gets this .... have you got apic
enabled in the bios?

Interesting. Maybe that's why the Mandrake contrib multimedia kernel
disabled it? It's probably a FAQ, but is there a standard method of
testing latency? I just look for xruns when running Ardour. I
wonder if that's enough.

I wish I could figure it out, but no luck so far (I tried to put acpi=on

this is strange to me as its happend on two machines of mine (one is a
sarge install(home) the other the demudi(studio))
both machines had windows. neither the bios nor the hardware has
changed. only the installation of linux.
Neither will switch off now.
However. the home machine is a dual boot and under windows shuts down
fine. Under linux...now where was that power button again :(

Actually never mind, you should not need this. None of my machines have
ACPI support compiled in and they all shut down fine. Must be a BIOS
thing.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing with Mandrake's "multimedia"
kernels. I haven't been bothered enough by it to try and fix it, but if
you find an easy fix, please let me know. =)

I've had the same problem on my m/c with the 2.4.24 and earlier
kernels. Switched to 2.4.27 and problem solved, why I don't know.

I had the same problem with the Mandrake contrib 2.6.7 multimedia
kernel. I fixed it in the RPM spec file by adding this:

This was fixed for me in A/DeMuDi-1.2.1, I had the same with 1.2.0
