I have the most recent packages from Debian unstable, jackd2, etc.
jackd does not start, appears to cash out.
Had this? Fixed it?

Please post the log of jackd startup. Your description does not allow to
pinpoint the problem. "cash out" can mean anything, too.
A shot in the dark, quite a while ago:
sudo sysctl kernel.sched_rt_runtime_us=-1
was required to get jackd with realtime privileges going with a default
debian kernel. I don't know if it is still the case.
