Well, at least OSS has a programmer's guide (PDF
file):
http://www.opensound.com/pguide/oss.pdf
Where is the equivalent for ALSA? Until it exists, we
will continue using OSS!

Hallo,
today the IRCAM Resonances festival started. I don't know how many of
these concerts will be done with Linux (maybe none...) but there are
several Pd sessions, so they at least *could* be done on Linux. Below
is the announcement as posted by Guillaume Boutard on pd-list. Beware,
that there was/is a mistake on the Streaming-page: The real URL for
the ogg-stream is http://reseaunances.ircam.fr:8000/reseaunances.ogg
Currently there is some terribly beautiful music by Yoshihiro HANNO
streaming...
Resoffnances, Ircam Resonances online off festival, will take place
from the 16th of october to the 24th. Resoffnance is a streamed-only
festival. Gigs will be broadcast from an IRCAM office and will ONLY
be available online. There will be no audience at IRCAM.
The following artists will perform (some using PD + GEM, including
me):
AOKI takamasa / Jeremie BERNSTEIN / BLTZR / Guillaume BOUTARD /
Sylvain CHAUVEAU / CHDH (Cyrille HENRY + Guest)/ Thierry CODUYS /
Eric DAUBRESSE / DISCOM / ENCRE / EZDAC / Yoshihiro HANNO / HYPO /
JASCH / JUKO / Romain KRONENBERG / MINIFER / Eric MINKKINEN / Ali
MOMENI / MTBF / My Jazzy Child / Kris NAPPE / Gilbert NOUNO / Tujiko
NORIKO + Lionel FERNANDEZ/ OLDINE / O. LAMM / Olivier PASQUET /
Sébastien ROUX / Francois SARHAN / Kasper TOEPLITZ / Bruce TOVSKY
Schedule+other details available at http://resoffnances.ircam.fr

Hi all,
This is not a release of any new code; it's just a trivial compilation
fix for the 0.3 tree:
* fixed a missing #include

Hi,
just a reminder that the Linux Audio mini-conf at Linux.Conf.Au is
happening on Monday Jan 12 2004 in beautiful Adelaide, South Australia.
Details are at:
http://www.metadecks.org/events/lca2004/
if you can be there and would like to do a presentation, please submit
an abstract soon, places are filling very fast and we'd like to get
the programme sorted out this month :)
other than that, it should be a lot of fun, as will the main conference
on the following Wed-Sat:
http://lca2004.linux.org.au/programme.cgi
cheers,
Conrad.
Defiant until the very end. Almost admirable.

That's not the point. It's a better way to program audio.
And it doesn't only use OSS.
