written by Reiner Klenk.
Realtime synthesis is one of the cornerstones of digital audio recording
and performance. This toot gives you a helping hand into the world of
Pure Data - One of the most popular and powerful synthesis
applications/environments. With JACK it is now possible to stream more
audio than ever before through applications like Pd and Ardour is there
to help record the results.

Hi folks,
Just a quick question regarding Motherboard selection for AMD-based machines
being used for Linux music applications... What models are recommended?
There are a bunch of them being listed in the local computer papers:
-M758
-M810
-K7S5A
-A7S333
Are there any pros/cons to going with these or others? I know you usually
get what you pay for, but these are all in about the same price range.
There isn't a lot of info available out there regarding this somewhat
specialized application (low-latency Linux setup with ALSA, JACK, etc.).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and/or advice!
Jay
Hello,
I've just installed the last (8.1) SuSE and wonder if the serial uart MIDI
driver can be used to work with an opcode studio64 (4 INs and 4 OUTs) MIDI
interface.
Can anyone point me into the right direction?
TIA,

Well, you learn something new every day :-}
but I don't see how -- i've searched for "onfig" in the man pages
for startx, xinit, X, and Xserver, and found nothing that suggests
a command-line option to choose the config file.

Hi,
I want to measure the latency of my linux box before installing the low lat
kernel. I found the latencytest0.42-png program.
When compiling I get some warnings (see below)
anton@stereocilia:~/latencytest0.42-png> make
gcc -Wall -O2 -DUSE_PENTIUM_TIMER -c latencytest.c
latencytest.c: In function `main':
latencytest.c:156: warning: passing arg 2 of `signal' from incompatible
pointer type
latencytest.c:157: warning: passing arg 2 of `signal' from incompatible
pointer type
gcc -Wall -O2 -DUSE_PENTIUM_TIMER -c gfx.c
gcc -o latencytest latencytest.o gfx.o -lm -lgd -lpng
gcc -Wall -O2 -DUSE_PENTIUM_TIMER -c rtc_latencytest.c
rtc_latencytest.c: In function `main':
rtc_latencytest.c:142: warning: passing arg 2 of `signal' from incompatible
pointer type
rtc_latencytest.c:143: warning: passing arg 2 of `signal' from incompatible
pointer type
gcc -o rtc_latencytest rtc_latencytest.o gfx.o -lm -lgd -lpng
Running ./do_tests gives me lots of errors:

I am using Suse 8.1 with the default 2.4.19 kernel. It is probably something
very stupid but I cannot figure out what. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi dear mailing list ?
I have got one question.
I'm using ALSA + digi96/8 PAD with an external ADAT (Korg 880D/A)
I can play sounds on the device hw:0 (analog).
I can also play sounds with the device hw:0,1 (ADAT) with ecasound and
aplay and other software. But in the momment all the sounds are send to
the first two ADAT-channels
Is it possible to use all 8 channels with ecasound or jack ?
Have I to send an 8 channel interleaved file or sterro files how?
How does it work.
Or have I to set up a special multichannel configuration in the
.asoundrc file.
Thank you.

Hello,
I found the old start page of vsound in the
cache of google:
http://www.google.de/search?q=cache:xGXl6EquXBwC:www.zip.com.au/~erikd/vsoun
d/+%2Bvsound&hl=de&ie=UTF-8
If this will be deleted:
I have made a local copy with mozilla which
I can send to you if you are interested in it.

Joachim
