Hi,
Maybe some folks on this list have insites into the
following conversation between Steve and myself. I
need all the help I can get. The last three paragraphs
are a topic for which I am woefully ignorant.

Hello,
I'm using a Delta 1010 LT card to record from radio tuners.
How does one record from all 10 inputs ? I see 8 Analog inputs and
two digital.
How can I use the two digital ports to record ? Do I need special
adapters ? When I plugged the line-out from a audio-source to
the S/0 port, I didn't see anything in envy24control .
I'm using JACK and ecasound to record the individual channels to
individual files.
As the Delta 1010 seems capable of stereo recording , is it
possible to record 20 line-ins in a mono mode ? If so, how do I
split it ? I bought a couple of adapters from Radio Shack such
that I can connect 2 cables to the analog-in of the delta-1010 ?
Is it possible to then route the invididual channels to
individual files ?

Hi,
I've always had trouble getting the Rezound CCRMA
package to work as a jack client. When starting, it
asks what alsa_pcm:playback is wanted, establishes the
connection with jack but never starts the gui.
root 8244 1.8 2.1 19376 19376 pts/8 SL
12:00 0:03 rezound --audio-method=jack
It starts fine if the audio method isn't jack. It also
will start with jack as the audio method if I compile
from source. Is there some trick I need to employ?

Hi,
On the topic of burning a CD, is it possible to define
the start and stop points for many songs within one
large file?
I always use cdrdao and produce distinct files for
each song. However, when mastering muliple songs with
Ardour and JAMin a significant amount of time can be
saved if the final audio product could be one file.

Hi..
I have been experimenting with loading VSTi s with vstserver and the pd
plugin.. it all works very nicely. However, I am not having so much luck
using the VSTi-0.0.3 program.. I get the error
could not attach as client (duplicate client name?)
could not load vst
This is with a build on a Debian sid box. Jack is 0.94, vstserver is
0.3.1..
I noticed the library file is supposed to be installed in /usr/lib/jack
which does not exist on my system, but I put it in /usr/lib and called a
ldconfig... Not really sure what the problem is here. Any pointers would
be gratefully received!
James.
Howdies
I need something that will help me take a tune I can sing or play and
find the tempo in bpm. I'm thinking of something that picks up the time
between two (or several) taps, or something that feeds clicks into jack
in an easily variable way. Or something like that.
thanks
John
Hi all...
There was a discussion some time ago about
burning a CD without the automatic 2 sec gap
between the tracks. I didn't really follow it until I needed
to do the same thing. Sorry if I'm repeating an old posting
but I found that cdrecord has an option,
defpregap, that can be used in this case. Just give
$cdrecord defpregap=0 -other-options *.wav
and it works. The tracks are searchable, and still the mix
goes uninteruppted. Unfortunately, the man page says
"This option may go away in the future":(

Thanks for the advice. Actually the card does perform a bit better at
48000. The thing is that at 48000 I get only 6 capture ports at 24-bit -
no playback.
Suprisinly I got rid of the noise by setting -n 512 -p 4.
What I haven't figured out is how to make the EMI capture at 6*24/44100
and playback at 2*16/44100 which would be the maximum performance by
this box. In other words how to tell Jack to use certain altset of the
playback interface.
With the -S switch I get 16-bit input and output but 24-bit capture at
least sounds like a nice idea...
Any suggestions on how to make that happen?
I've tried using pcm slaves from the .asoundrc as Steve Harris suggested
earlier but ended up with Segmentation Faults and missing library -
notifications only...
ALSA lib pcm.c:1939:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Cannot open shared library
/usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_format.so
Thanks,
-Jorma

Hi,
Trying to get Jack running with a 2.6.5 kernel.
# modprobe -v realtime gid=102 allcaps=1
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.5/extra/realtime.ko gid=102 allcaps=1

But it works when make is run as root. The README file says that only make
