Ok after about 30 minutes of tweaking, Its non-realtime only,
with a preview button. The preview button only gives you about 10
seconds of preview though. I tried it with all of the dfx
http://www.smartelectronix.com/~destroyfx/ VST's and the all worked just
fine.
The lack of realtime operation is a pain. I have only really used
Audacity at work to tweak minor things in sound files for our games, so
I have never really out it through its paces.

Hi,
I've managed to get some sort of thin client, but still have some problems.
I've enabled XDMCP on my server, and run this on my diskless epia client:
"X -query ip_of_server"
and I got login screen, got into and could work as just at the server. But I
would like to go further. It seems like that desktop is using resources on
server (audio, graphic card).
How can I get sound from server's desktop to my epia thin client ?
I'd really like to get this working cause this will be right device for my
kids. In this way they've got TV, entertainment box (running mythtv) and
normal PC terminal.
Thanks in advance for responses,
Regards,
Robert.
I don't know about the vst stuff, but I have been using audacity
here at work for a while (as a cooledit substitute and I have never had
it hang or crash (on both XP and win2k pro/server). I will mess with the
VST stuff today.

This one is relevant only for people who understand swedish. Sorry.
Jag har skrivit ett 5-poängsarbete om ljud med GNU/Linux (examensarbete på
musikhögskolan i Örebro).
pappersversionen...) Svara till min privata mail.

I'm a bit surprised noone knows of a way to specify just one channel of a
given output device, i.e., just the LEFT channel or the RIGHT channel of the
main PCM output device. The asoundrc syntax documentation is extremely
lightweight in this regard. The closest thing I've seen is an example
showing how to bind two stereo output devices into a single 4-channel output
device using "bindings" directives.
I'd appreciate any pointers.
Thank you,

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain, but it's a good way at the moment of distributing songs without the hassle of posting CDs and handling payment. Bearing in mind that most people still use Windows it's the lesser of two evils to put songs out using DRM encoded WMAs. At least a large percentage of my audience can listen to the tracks in full before committing to purchase.
Older tracks are available via Vitaminic and Soundclick, but I found I was spending more money promoting them than I was getting back. Links to those sites are below if Linux people want to check out some of my older material (plug! plug!)
Anyway, Audigy2? External connectors? Anyone? Bueller?

Except if one wants to distribute his/her material the weedshare way...
Just my, 0.01
Sampo
Today's question... :-)
Has anyone got a Creative Labs Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro running under Linux, including the external box with the input connectors?
So far I have the main card working, i.e. I can play audio, but I can't record anything, or use any of the functions of the external box.
help!
cheers

Hi all,
I'm trying to reset the latency_timer on my on-board nforce2 sound
to 32 instead of 0, but it doesn't seem to work. I issue the command
"setpci -v -s 00:06.0 latency_timer=20 as root, but lspci still shows
the latency as being 0. Any ideas?
