Anyone here know:
1 - How I can measure the latency of a USB-audio device connected to PD via
ALSA?
2 - What the minimum latency of a USB-audio device is with Linux?
Thanks!

I would second this. Of course get rid of it running automatically (I think fedora core 1 has it set up to run at least once a day). I run it everynow and then by hand (updatedb). When you have 100's of gigs of harddrive filled with stuff locate is way more speedy than find. (if its up to date)

Oh, so if I ewere to set it to 1 would I do:
modprob snd-usb-audio nrpacks=$F1 ?
also, will I need to remove the module before installing it again?

Ok.. that could be fun to try.
Could anyone point me to a howto that explains how to implement this?

Maybe this is old news that I missed, but it looks like RME is doing it
right. 56 channel unit. 24-bit, 192KHz, 4 mic pre's, 2 ADAT, S800 1394b
with 1394 hub.
http://www.rme-audio.com/english/firewire/ff800.htm
This would make a really nice using for someone to build a remote
recording around.
Too bad that there isn't more going on with 1394-based audio under
Linux. This unit and Ardour would be fun...

Hi folks,
I've got a little problem here:
This weekend I used my laptop to record two live-events. Everything went fine
using Jack and timemachine.
Except: Timmachine crashed on the second recording after reaching a filesize
of 2GB. I once thought timemachine did use a fileformat which isn't bound to
the maximumsize of 2GB of the standard-wave-files...
My second thought is, that my kernel doesn't support files above 2GB so I was
looking through my config for an option related to filesize, but didn't find
one.
Am I missing a config-option or am I using the wrong format/application?
Any hints welcome...
Arnold

in order to make a project of music education
I need to find some audio files of natural or mechanical sounds,
noises, animals, musical instruments etc.
Please,
if you know some free sounds libs on-line, post a link
Thanks
