Does anybody know if the Apogee Mini-DAC will work with ALSA? It is a USB audio device but I can't tell if it needs proprietary drivers or not.

I have a recording made in mid-side mode which sounds very strange when fed through the MS to Stereo matrix, I suspect because the mid and side channels are the opposite way round from what the matrix expects, i.e. the mid channel on what would normally be the right channel and the side channel on what would normally be the left channel.
Does anyone know of a way, in ardour, to swap the two channels round before feeding into the matrix?
TiA,
Steve.
I'm building a system and would like to have it be dual AMD. What
motherboards are you using, which are still current enough to buy one
new? It'd be good if the motherboard layout was such that I can fit
a quiet CPU cooler, Zalman or such, on each CPU. Thanks....

Hi.
I see that Behringer has released a new gadget:
http://www.behringer.com/BCA2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG
Has anyone tried this thing ? Does it work with the
generic USB audio driver or do we have to wait for
ALSA drivers to become available ? I am _almost_ off
to buy one :-).
Cheers

Greetings:
I ran memtest for a day, the RAM's fine, so I brought in another
machine, added my drives, memory, and cards, everything's working all right.
Once again I learned a lot, thanks to everyone who replied. But I
gotta get me some new iron...
Best,
dp
Hi Tim. Thanks for sending the ZynAddSubFx icon. Interesting that it turns up
as a screensaver on, I'm not sure if it's Debian or FC2. I'm sendind 2 icons
as attachments. One came from MDK10.0 for TiMidity, and the other for
Cheesetracker I knocked up with KiconEdit. TiMidity is a bit of an unknown
quantity,as it doesn't build with a front end. I even compiled the latest
2.13 version from Sourceforge (which shows a GUI) but no front end is there.
On the same page there is a link to a Japanese site for a shell script to use
as a front end, but I'm not sure how it should be used. The icon I'm sending
from MDK10.0 has obviously a front end, and has been built into TiMidity, so
how right it is to call it TiMidity I don't know. As an example Kmidi (no
longer available beyond FC1) uses TiMidity, but is labelled Kmidi. If you
think the Cheesetracker one is cr.p just trash it. Nigel.
You offered to send the icons you have. I'm game for that.
Hi
Whats the best midi/usb interface for Linux.
I have seen a few midiman 2's on ebay.
I have to now get into Midi for my Linux studio, I have a cheap yamaha
keyboard with Midi out and would like to try out Rosegarden

Hi.
When I was at LAC2005 I made a lot of pictures. I
sorted the pictures that are interesing for the people
who participated LAC2005, I corrected them (rotated,
etc.) and I uploaded them at:
http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/doc/PicturesPaulNascaLAC2005.zip
The pictures are in a single zip archive (55MB) and
there are 215 pictures;-)
MD5SUM(PicturesPaulNascaLAC2005.zip)=8c6877789e5c303d979d0dd85f73dc79
SHA1SUM(PicturesPaulNascaLAC2005.zip)=b4f18efd4eb51dee711e6b7d1c1fb183048a2479
Please note that this link is NOT permanent and very
likely that the pictures will be available at
linuxdj.com.
Hope you'll like it.

Hi all,
I'm new to this list, Linux daily user near 3 years ago but pretty new
in audio work and my mother-lang is french :)
I'm looking for pointer about sound analysis, the principal aim is to be
able to analyse sound system response.
I have a friend who is sound technician, he is using a win32 apps to
measure loudspeaker response, this apps uses Maximum Length Sequence
measurement and FFT to avoid it.
I have not found an equivalent tools running under linux, I've found
fftw lib but don't know how to use it :o
Is someone use real time analyser to align his sound system ?
Thanks,
Jody
