A little while back there was a thread about building Mellotron sound
fonts, but all the links posted in that thread are dead (searched via
Google). Does anyone know where these might be found? I've got this
great Mellotron VST plugin but it flat out refuses to work under any of
the Linux VST compatibility libraries (and the standalone version loads
under Wine, but it requires ASIO to produce any sound), so am looking
for something that will work under Linux.

Snd-ls v0.9.4.3
---------------
Released 30.6.2005
About
-----
Snd-ls is a distribution of the sound editor Snd. Its target is
people that don't know scheme very well, and don't want
to spend too much time configuring Snd. It can also serve
as a quick introduction to Snd and how it can be set up.
Changes from 0.9.3.0 to 0.9.4.3
--------------------------------
-Upgraded various rt-stuff.
-Upgraded various rt-stuff++
-Removed jack_set_server_dir guile-binding from rt-engine.scm, because its
removed from the newer versions of jack.
-Updated SND to v7.14 from 19.6.2005. Many important changes.

2.
Mammut V0.20
------------
Mammut will FFT your sound in one single gigantic analysis (no windows).
These spectral data, where the development in time is incorporated in
mysterious ways, may then be transformed by different algorithms prior to
resynthesis. An interesting aspect of Mammut is its completely
non-intuitive sound transformation approach.
Changes 0.18 -> 0.20
--------------------
-Fixed a bug in the Makefile caused by a fix in the previous release.
-Fixed some bugs in the Makefile.

3.
Ceres V0.43
-----------
Ceres is an advanced program for displaying sonograms and for sound
effects in the frequency domain. And more.
Changes 0.42 -> 0.43
--------------------
-Fixed some bugs in the Makefile

Snd RT-extension documentation
-------------------------------
The realtime extension for SND makes it possible to do signal processing
in realtime using guile and a special scheme-like compiled language.
It has many features, as jack-support, CLM, a realtime scheduler,
a compiler, busses, dynamic patching, shared variables, ladspa and more.
It can also be made to work with Common Music.

I am running ccrma on an AMD 64, but I am running all 32 bit code. It
is fast and stable using the edge kernel.

Hi all,
Linuxtag[1] 2005 is over. It took place from 20050622 to
20050625 in Karlsruhe, Germany.
We had a booth there populated by the following people:
Arnold Krille
Christoph Eckert
Frank Neumann
Gerd Flaig
Joachim Schiele
Moritz Dressler
Reinhard Katzmann
We had 4 presentation places with a keyboard and a notebook
each, additionally an acoustic guitar and an electric violin
so we have been able to show soft synths as well as realtime
audio processing. Needless to say that there have been lots
of USB audio devices :) .
There was a lot of interest of the visitors in what we can do
with free audio software, and my observation is that most
people have been simply surprised by the amount of available
applications as well as the quality of the apps and the
processed audio material.
Furthermore I had the occasion to hold two talks about linux
audio, one for musicians[2] (en) and one for desktop users[3]
(de).
Because it has been a successful show with really great
software, I'd like to thank all who helped and especially
those who do the hard background work on free audio software.
Best regards
ce

Hi
I just purchased this sound card used; and i am wondering if aynone has
successfully used this card. There isn't much about it on the
alsa-users lists. I know its alsa modules is snd-cs46xx
<http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?module=cs46xx#opt>.
I really want to know if i'll be able to used most of its I/O ports.
thanks

This is a bit different from the usual stuff dicussed here, but somebody
may know how to help and it does concern Linux and audio.
The best way to describe the problem:
With Firefox, go to http://radiobritfolk.co.uk/launchbillboard.aspx
You should get music played iin the background as per displayed playlist.
Apparently it works for Windows and Mac users, but it doesn't work for
me and some other usrs with Firefox and Linux. Firefox complains
about missing plugins, and can't find a suitable one.
The site seems to attempt to use both the <OBJECT> and <EMBED> tag to get
streaming audio for the playlist. It's important for legal
copyright-related reasons that the music should play without the user
being able to download or rewind it - i.e. purely in the background.
The author (and organisation behind it, of which I'm part) can't afford
to put it on a proper streaming server. I can see it's done by embedding
a playlist as a .m3u file. I can play that with realaudio if I link
directly to a .m3u file (I've tested it on my own website).
If this is a problem that simple to fix on the server, that can be done.
If it helps, the relevant code on the page is like this:
<span id="lPlay">
<object width='300' height='64'>
<param name='src' value='billboard/PL_213.m3u'>
<param name='autoplay' value='true'>
<param name='controller' value='false'>
<param name='hidden' value='true'>
<embed src='billboard/PL_213.m3u' autostart='true'
hidden='true' loop='false' width='300'
height='64'>
</embed>
</object>
</span>
The file name PL_213.m3u is randomly generated different each time the page is
visited, and each time it lists the same tracks in a different order.
Does anyone understand what's going on here?

Interesting,
I have an Abit AV8 with an Athlon 64 3700+ and I must say that it has
been by far my most stable system in years. I haven't had a single
crash and I am primarily using it as an audio workstation. I was going
to give the board a high recommendation. I would be interested to hear
the specifics of your hardware.

Hmm, NoteEdit supports drum clef(s) and can import Midi and
MusicXML. I don't know if Rosegarden can export to MusicXML
as well (I didn't find anything in this regard in the menus).
NoteEdit support drum notes as well.
The screenshot on the NoteEdit homepage should show you an
examples for a drum line. See http://noteedit.berlios.de

Hi,
Let me inform you about the online demonstration against the
patentability of software (=software patens) which the Commission of
the European Union wants to introduce. As far as I understand the
process of passing the appropriate bill in the institutions of the EU,
the patentability of software could be possible from July 2005 on.
There is a site, run by among others Attac Germany, where you can
protest against this, by uploading a picture of yourself:
http://demo.stoppt-softwarepatente.de/index.php?content=demo&lang=GB
"So far 3883 people have demonstrated here. The more people
participate, the clearer a joint picture of the protest will be shown.
Short before the decision in the European Parliament we will print this
picture on a huge banner and show it in front of the European
Parliament in Strasbourg. This way you can also be a part of the
international demonstration."
Regards,
Jens
