Hi,
Nice command line approach. I must be getting lazier with age as I prefer this:
Applications->Sound & Video->Serpentine Audio CD Creator
Drag ogg's into Serpentine
Press "Write to Disc"
This is not meant as a smug response to a well written script alternative,
but more a testament to how the Gnome developers have succeeded in making
this so simple.

Yello,
where should I search the problem, when Qjackctl gives me xruns and
errors like these
#################
00:30:52.038 MIDI connection change.
00:30:52.051 MIDI active patchbay scan...
load = 46.8052 max usecs: 2972.000, spare = 2361.000
delay of 2596.000 usecs exceeds estimated spare time of 2361.000;
restart ...
00:31:07.437 XRUN callback (1).
late driver wakeup: nframes to process = 512.

(Some lines edited)
Problems so far with Bristol Audio and Qsampler, so I guess it has
something to do with midi. Ardour works fine with audio, no Xruns.
My setup:
1,2 ghz AMD
512 mb RAM
Audigy 2 ZS plus SB Live!
Edirol UM-1X
Mandriva 2007 + multimedia kernel
I had no problems with MDV 2006.

hi everyone!
i'm very happy to announce that marc-olivier barre will be maintaining
the linux-audio-* lists from now on.
let me take this opportunity to ask for a few more volunteers to
moderate linux-audio-announce. get this: for years, brilliant minds like
ingo molnar, robert love and lee revellhave been toiling with the kernel
for a few measly microseconds gain - as a linux-audio-announce
moderator, you can cut latencies by hours if not days. how is that for a
claim to fame? please get in touch with marc-olivier.
it's been a pleasure to participate in this linux audio community for
all those years, and i have profited immensely from the great work done
here! thanks everyone, and i hope to see you around at LAC 2007!
best wishes,
jörn

if you are a free (as in "free speech") software developer
and you happen to be travelling near my home, drop me a line
and come round for a free (as in "free beer") beer. :-D
For some reason when I use Rosegarden 4.1.4 in ubuntu it crashes my
entire computer. I am not using any real time patch. I am just using the
ubuntu kernel. Has anyone else experienced it? Do I need to install
kubuntu desktop to get get it to work without crashing? I don't know how
it could crash the system. Maybe I will try ssh'ing in later to make
sure it is truly crashed and not just locking up X. Muse seems to work
fine but I want Rosegarden to be able to work also.
What else can I do to debug this?
I am running 32bit ubuntu on an amd64.
Thanks,
Jeremiah

I was trying to type C-space, move the cursor using C-F (or similar), and then
mark the end of the selection somehow. In other words, I expected that I could
start a selection, move the cursor aribitrarily in any number of steps, and then
somehow tell snd that "that is where I want the selection to end". I read that
very section of the documentation, and it didn't seem to indicate any way to do
that. As a beginner, I had not become comfortable to moving the cursor with
numeric arguments.

How does one define the samples between two marks as a selection?
I like being able to search through sound files based on a predicate. That's
neat. Now, how can I search based on a predicate that applies to both channels
of a stereo sound file? For example, what if I want to find time T such that
both channels cross y = 0 when t = T?

I don't know how many swedish/norwegian speaking people there are on this list,
but for those of you that do speak any of these languages, I would like to announce
a "new" forum for Linux music, in affiliation with another part of the swedish
hobby/semi professional music scene.
The idea is to have some sort of first line support/discussion forum for newcomers and
people not so fluent in english but eager to test Linux as their audio platform of choice.
Well, here's a link:
http://forum.studio.se/index.php?showforum=22
I hope to see you there. :)

Hallo!
When I don't have plugged in my RME at bootup, I have sometimes the
problem, that hdsploader is not able to upload the firmware onto the device:
holzi@holzi:~$ hdsploader
hdsploader - firmware loader for RME Hammerfall DSP cards
Looking for HDSP + Multiface or Digiface cards :
Card 0 : RME Hammerfall DSP at 0x34000000, irq 9
Upload firmware for card hw:0
Hwdep ioctl error on card hw:0 : Input/output error.
Card 1 : Intel 82801DB-ICH4 Modem at 0x2400, irq 9
I searched a little bit and found this tip from Esben:
http://lalists.stanford.edu/lau/2006/05/0436.html - which also works for
me ...
So my question, is there also a way to get hdsploader working without
plugging out/in the card ? (and without a reboot)
Thanks,
LG

I don't know if theres anything built in, but its relatively easy to add a
keybinding to do it yourself.
To let C-space select both start and end of selection plus cancel it, put
the following lines into your .snd-ls file:
(bind-key (char->integer #\ ) 4
(let ((selstart #f))
(lambda ()
(let ((set-selstart! (lambda ()
(report-in-minibuffer (format #f "Selection start at ~A" (cursor)))
(set! selstart (cursor)))))
(if (c-selection?)
(begin
(set! (selection-member? #t) #f)
(set-selstart!))
(if selstart
(begin
(c-set-selection! (c-selected-sound) 0 (min selstart (cursor)) (max selstart (cursor)))
(report-in-minibuffer "")
(set! selstart #f))
(set-selstart!)))))))
(load-from-path "snd_conffile.scm")

I'm sure it would be possible to customize snd to become more like
vim.
