I've added two more pieces to my website - didn't know I would be able
to stuff so much on it!
Slinky is very experimental both from the point of view of the effects
I've used, and from a more involved percussion track, which is
something I'm never really comfortable with.
Cinderella's Night At The Ball, is a much simpler and gentle style. The
sort of thing I find myself slipping into quite easily.
I hope you enjoy these. As before, the URL is:

I believe I understand your premise, but I don't think a certain
'content/philosophy' is necessary to accomplish this purpose.
I think all you need to do is make music that people value as much as they
do their food, their house, their clothes or anything else they place
monetary value on - and this could be *any* kind of music.
There are many people who cannot imagine life without music, and even some
who would go hungry in order to afford to buy tickets to a concert, for
example.
It is *these* people you need to find and share your music with.
And the *kind* of music people value to this extent could be anything and
everything.
Whatever gives people joy - makes them laugh, makes them cry, makes them
angry, makes them want to dance - or just makes them want to go on living.
I don't think it needs a particular message or focus - in fact, I think
that would be very counterproductive.
It is when you play from your heart - make music that *you* love - music
that inspires *you* and is an expression of your own essence - that people
will respond the most favorably.
Small example: my husband was once playing in a caf - receiving only tip
jar proceeds.
A man from the local Baha'i community heard him and liked the music so much
that he spontaneously ordered 20 CDs to sell at cost at his Baha'i center -
just because he felt the music was inspiring and befitting to that
environment.
Those are the kind of connections you need to make.
And that illustrates another point as well - that you've got to get out
there and connect with people personally in order to achieve what your are
talking about.
That is the downside to internet-only music.
People are willing to open their purse - or at least throw you a crust of
bread - when you are there in front of them performing your music live,
whereas if they just downloaded it online they probably wouldn't even think
about tipping for it.
When the music is live - the listeners get to participate and be involved
in it - it becomes a cooperative and shared experience - and that is
something that people value very highly.
I don't think anything will ever replace live music.
Make the music that *you* love and find the people who resonate to that and
love it as well.
I think that is the secret.

Hey, I hope this app falls under the proper-for-lau header.
http://gnaural.sf.net/ is the site, and binaural beats is the name of
the game.
Have any of you experts here got an opinion on these kinds of apps?
I was thinking it could all be a placebo effect, as I'm skeptical of
things like this, but it seems to maybe be more scientific than that.
I'm just wondering if anyone here has tried these kinds of things or
studied the effects. Perhaps turning down the pink noise and putting in
some music would be nice to experiment with as well.
I tried the app last night, and a couple minutes into it, I got
extremely dizzy all of a sudden, but it only lasted for about 2 seconds.
Then later on, I changed the pattern and made it dip low. When I did
that, and it came around to playing that part, my head started to wobble
in response to the music. Very weird. I don't know that it still wasn't
a mental thing - it very well could have been. But I'd like to think
that if this isn't a universally true effect, then I have a stronger
will than to be affected by something like this, entirely in my mind.
So. Yeah.

You can get deep fried battered Mars bars, and deep fried pizza from
some chip shops here. Naturally, both are fried in beef dripping.
I don't see why people think we eat strange food. :)

Not true. (That's a nasty rumor.)
We're doing all recording/mixing at 192/24 and it is working beautifully!

Hi,
I've got problems to find the source of my demudi kernel
(2.6.12-3-multimedia).
I try with the repository : deb-src
http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/custom custom main but it seems to be
broken.
I really need the sources, where can I find this, which is the line to
add to my sources.list ?
thanks

Whooooah! Loooook-out! Rob comes out swinging!
It's a one-round knock-out! LOL
I'm with ya, guy - Freeeeeeeeeeeeeedooooooooom!!!!!!!!!!
Just for clarification:
I believe Carlo's intent was to discuss things that *could* be done with
music - not what *should* or *must* be done.
We've all got a choice.

(Too scared to type my whole name.)
Is there a LADSPA expander gate plugin that I could use with
Ardour and/or Audacity? The SWH SC[1-4] compressor plugins
work nicely, now that I upgraded to something newer than a 2004
release. ;-)
Thanks much....

Yes - but it was in the context of how might one create music that would
facilitate a particular desired result.
'Ought to' in this sense meaning "it would probably work best if . . . " -
to bring about this particular result.

I *knew it*!
That was a rare fine display of Celtic fire if I ever saw one.
The most sure way to raise a Celt's ire is to tell them they either *can't*
or *must* do something - guaranteed way to get their dander up.
(I should know - being mostly Scot, with a good splash of Welsh to go along
with it.)

Hi guys,
I have a Korg x5d and the midi interface to work with. I use the
interface, record with Gnu/Linux and works quite well.
But, as you know the keyboard includes a software for Windows and Mac
to manage the combinations, the presets, and the sounds of the keyboard.
I used to use this application with the OS mentioned above, but now I
just use Gnu/Linux and I don't find an application to do this kind of
work. It's, again, i.e.: to save the actual configuration of the
keyboard, use another one downloaded from internet, edit sounds,
combis, reset the keyboard, and use the bank A or B. All that
controled by my Gnu/Linux machine.
Best,
Juan.-
