In your modules settings file (mine is /etc/modules.d/alsa), set:
alias snd-card-0 snd-<card1>
alias snd-card-1 snd-<card2>
etc.
Folks,
Loading a .wav file in Specimen, either produced by psindustrializer
or downloaded from Freesounds results in it being triggered by a single
C note of an external MIDI keyboard. Is it possible to spread a
sample across at least one octave ? I reckon that spreading can
affect sound quality negatively but in the case of industrial sounds
this can be considered an additional effect. It would be just great to
use a sample over several notes, like in Linux Sampler for instance.
Is there a way to do that with Specimen ?
Thanks,
Al
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions so far.
Next in line: anyone got some good samples from an industrial
environment? I'm thinking of the typical machine-like sounds of the
eponymous genre.

Hi Marv,
I don't believe I associated my use of the term with anyone's particular
workspace, nor do I mean to suggest that "serious audio production ==
audio professional". Even "audio professional" is subject to broader
definition, i.e. it doesn't necessarily refer to someone working in a
commercial recording studio.
I'll modify my original statement: Sure, you can be serious about audio
production with an SBLive, but you'll probably get better -sounding
audio from a Delta or RME device. The difference was certainly notable
here in my own studio.
Jam on.
Best,

I can route the Line-In through, but I can't seem to get any capture off
it.
Changing mixer controls didn't help a bit.
Any ideas or experiences with this card?

I am looking to buy a MIDI keyboard controller but I am
having trouble coming up with a site that has
compatibility info on it. Could someone point me in the
right direction?
Thanks Greg.

There's a commercial edu-game for PC/Mac, that will train you in
playing the piano. Kind of like Singstar or Guitar Hero, but for the
piano. Is there anything like it for Linux?

Hi all,
Is anyone able to run freecycle on a 64bit installation?
Here the program opens and I select "Open wave": it shows the file
selection dialog but when I press "OK" the program segfaults.
Here's some output from gdb:

hey dominique, i just installed the .0.99.80 and it started and played
for the first time just fine, but after stopping it and trying to start
again, i doesn't start, but also there is no complain in the terminal,
it just nothing happens.
i am trying simply 'alsaplayer'
but also:
/usr/local/bin/alsaplayer -i gtk2 -r -o jack
but both times nothing happens.
if i do a reboot, again alsaplayer will start only for one time, no
matter if i use jack ar alsa as the output.
any idea what went wrong here??
cheers,
doc
