Hello,
Does anyone know of a good plugin that will generate subharmonics?
I would like to put a little more low frequency "oomph" into my bass
track. Preferrable LADSPA, but VST would work, too.
Thanks for any help!

jack_capture v0.9.4
===================
jack_capture is a program for recording soundfiles with jack. Its default
operation is to capture whatever sound is going out to your speakers into
a file. This is the program I always wanted to have for jack, but no
one made. So here it is.
Changes 0.9.3 -> 0.9.4:
*Fixed bug that caused max 2 channels to be recorded.

Thread hijack so i changed the name... I want to record acoustic
guitar and vocals. Price limit is < AUD$300 so i'm thinking of 2
behringer c-2's ($75!!) and stereo mic pre or a single SM Pro mic 1
condenser and pre. Are cheap condensers better than sm57/58 of the
same price? Any recommendations?

I have just gotten the news that I've got another live show to play on May 19th.
If things go well, instead of borrowing the guitar player's Korg Triton (as I had to do for the last show), I will be playing my new Linux laptop.
I want to plant a huge Tux sticker right in the center of the laptop cover. It's a barebones so it has no markings of its own; I get to put on my own. I've seen a logo of Tux wearing headphones too, which I'd like to find.
Where might I purchase stickers of this type, suitable for laptop application? I want to stand up and be proud, and "represent", as the young folks say these days.

Does anyone know of a linux based synth that emulates the sound of the C64
SID chip? I would love to use that sound in some pieces, but I have never
been able to find anything very usable.
Perhaps something could be used from the libsid/libsidplay libraries??

I'm in dire need of a decent pair of headphones for real quality and
comfort long-term listening while working on my music. my current set
are literally falling apart - I've lost count of how many times I've
re-cabled them!
I'm also in need of lightweight earplugs for casual work. So far I've
not found ones that will stay in place :(
Can anyone suggest where I can get these (UK) without it costing an arm
and a leg?

You might read this several times, sorry for crossposting.
In 2007 Karsten Wiese and Malte Steiner resurrected the AMS project to
continue development.
Now we proudly present the first release since 2004, the version 1.8.8
RC1. Everything runs fine on our computers but we would like AMS users
to try this version and to report, maybe on the ams-user mailing list or
bug tracker at sourceforge, when something is broken or patches sound
suddenly different.
Alsa Modular Synthesizer is a free open source realtime modular software
synthesizer for Linux without compromises regarding sound quality. Its
Jack compatible and can include LADSPA plugins.

hellew. i made this song as part of a quixit (
http://r2h.org/doc/quixit-faq.txt). it's where ppl from em411.com get
together in irc and make a tune in an hour, hour and a half...
link: http://r2h.org/music/everamzah-to_my_ear.mp3
using only the samples provided in the quixit (think one hour compo), i
proceeded to slice them up in snd. i loaded the pieces of the drum break
into one instance of specimen, and pieces of the flute and airy pad in
another instance of specimen. i then programmed an 8 bar drum loop in seq24,
alongside an 8 bar loop of a melody i made using the flute+pad. i recorded
both of these into ardour2 (rc2, worked like a charm), alongside with sample
tweak-out using kluppe. after that i adjusted the arrangement a touch, and
fired up tranches (controlled using vkeybd), routed the recorded drums into
tranches from and back into ardour2, and did beat repeating/slicing from
half way though in-on-out. i'm pleased with the end result. all made in
approx one hour. :)
thanks for listening,
james

Can anyone recommend a list for general non-Linux-related electronic music discussions?
I'm looking for recommendations for things like laptop stands (to use along with a MIDI controller), advice on obtaining and booking electronic/ambient music and/or DJ-style gigs, collaborating with visual artists, poets, or MC's, and other stuff relating to music performance and music business but not linux specifically.
There's a lot of lists and forums out there, but I don't want to have to wade through all of them, if some folks here can offer some recommendations to help me narrow it down a bit.
