Hi
I'm about to release "an actual CD" made only with linux tools. For the
mastering I lined up all "tunes" in ardour on on each track, and set the
locations for each tune.
I read this: http://www.ardour.org/files/manual/ch-exporting.html and it
suggests that I leave a 2 seconds space before the "first modulation"
(what ever that is), which made me align like this:
http://atte.dk/download/ardour.png.
When I export (with toc) and burn using "cdrdao write modlys.wav.cue"
the CD plays just fine, but (and this is the whole point of this mail)
when I rip it again with cdparanoia I get a silent track00 that lasts 2
seconds. Obviously I'm not interested in this this behavior on my final
CD, and am wondering what I did wrong. Any thoughts?

Just a quick note about a quick release:
JackMix 0.4.1 is out!
Get it from http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/?q=JackMix%3Aintro or directly via
http://www.arnoldarts.de/drupal/files/downloads/jackmix/jackmix-0.4.1.tar.gz
This is "only" a buildsystem release. But now it should work. The detection of
the qt-specific compilers (moc/uic/rcc) should not be a problem anymore.
Building also got easier, it is just calling "scons" and watch for everything
to happen by itself. Except for installation. You currently have to copy the
binary by hand to your destination of choice. But its only that binary that
is needed.
For those who don't know (and don't want to look at the above mentioned
website), JackMix is a small but powerful mixer for jack, featuring a
configurable number of inputs and outputs, providing a NxM mixing-matrix and
allowing to combine these mixing-nodes into bigger ones with other controls.
So you can combine some nodes to become for example a 2in-2out stereo node.
Its hard to explain, look at it for yourself...
Probably some of my other pets will also see a minor-release the next days
with the same changes to the buildsystem, so if you run into any problems,
just let me know!
Have fun,
Arnold

Hi,
I generally use Alsa MIDI support on most of the music applications.
But with Jack Rack, in the MIDI settings dialogue i cannot see any MIDI
devices in the list.
And when i try to run QJackControl with Raw MIDI support jackd cannot start.
What can be the problem ?

The 6th annual Linux Audio Conference has begun in Cologne, Germany. It
runs today through March 2nd, 2008. As with each previous year this
year's conference is streamed live over the internet in ogg theora via
icecast. The stream status page can be found at:
http://lac.linuxaudio.org
This year we are in the unique situation of having a Gigabit link
donated by CITIZENMEDIA: http://www.ist-citizenmedia.org/ They have
asked us to use up as much of their bandwidth as we can so they can see
how well the link performs. Please forward this information widely so
we can help them out.
This year the core team, Joern Nettingsmeier and myself, are recruiting
volunteers to spread the workload. To that end we have set up a mailing
list and irc channel to coordinate our efforts. If you are here in
Cologne for the conference please consider joining us. If you are not
coming, please enjoy the fruits of our labors by watching the streams
and participating via irc.

What would be a good number for memlock with 4G RAM?
I've got it set at 3145728 which is 75% of available RAM but I still get startup warnings from Ardour and bad_alloc crashes with some apps.
Should I set memlock at 4000000?

actually, there really is not the 'vamp-sdk/hostext/PluginWrapper.h' in
the source.
i tried creating 'vamp-sdk/hostext' and than copying PluginWrapper.h
from the ardour source, but than i get another error later.
hope that you have any idea what is wrong here.
cheers,
