WHAT IS A VIRTUAL BOOK?
In this book all bars are formated in 5/4 but only completed with rests.
Therefore at the end of each bar there are two r8 (= a quarter note).
Don't forget that you must write sounds with eighth notes in the
"Gigsaw". If that's been established all combinations are possible:
Move and replace whatever place you want into the bar a single r8 (or
its subdivisions). (In the included MY-SONG see example
5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes8)
Paying more attention in case of triplets that's the reason why I
haven't changed 8th rests in the following examples:
- Either you move a WHOLE triplet on one another beat. (see example
5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes5 (transformée 1)
- or you insert three 8th rests inside one another triplet and delete
the empty \\times { } so that you only get a triplet with six 8th
notes. (see example 5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes5 (transformée 2)
- or you only get a triplet with nine 8th notes. (see example
5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes5 (transformée 3)
- or you only get a single triplet with twelve 8th notes. (see example
5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes5 (transformée 4 et 5)
- or finally you change the time signature (5/4 becomes 15/8) and you
delete all \\times { }. Doing that you create materials for all kind of
transformations. (see example 5/4-VIRTUAL-ROCK-BASE mes5 (transformée en
15/8). To find the previous tempo of 8th in triplet again notice the
change of tempo 4 = 165 (110 + a half: 55)

I spend more time to explain than to do the things.
I hope my effort at doing a translation wasn't too unclear.
As always suggestions or criticisms are welcome.
Have fun.

a2jmidid is a project that aims to ease usage of legacy ALSA sequencer
applications, in a JACK MIDI enabled system.
Homepage with screenshots: http://home.gna.org/a2jmidid/
Tarball download: http://download.gna.org/a2jmidid/
Changes since version 5:
* MIDI processing improvements
* Handle large number of ports
* a2j script (non-dbus-like behaviour for dbus environment)
* Allow tweaking through dbus of the hardware port export option
* Fix a use of invalid memory
* Fix port miss that can occur if port appears during bridge startup
Special thanks to Torben Hohn and Paul Davis for their recent work on
improving the a2jmidid code.
Indzhe Voyvoda was a renowned leader of an armed band of outlaws in
Ottoman-held Bulgaria. Eventually, he gave up robbing and began to
patronize the poor Bulgarian population.

I'm not getting any useful responses at Audacity's forum...
When I try to generate a click track the following error is displayed:
ERROR: Could not find sinewave.raw in rawwaves. Something is wrong
with the installation or configuration.
; loading "/usr/share/audacity/nyquist/init.lsp"
SETDIR: No such file or directory
Set *default-sf-dir* to "/usr/share/audacity/plug-ins" in fileio.lsp
AutoNorm feature is on.
Default sound file is scott-temp.wav.
system.lsp : *RUNTIME-PATH* = /usr/share/audacity/nyquist/

Version 3.03
error: too few arguments
The second time I run it the following error occurs and Audacity crashes:
1> Segmentation fault
Can this be fixed by creating a sinewave.raw audio file in the default
path specified or is there something wrong elsewhere? What's the fix?
Using Audacity 1.3.9 (Unicode) on Ubuntu 9.10 x64 and Fedora 12 x64 and
i386. Same error in all environments.
I am looking for some Creative Commons by-SA music to use for a video
piece. I would like the music to be pulsing and sweeping in sound similar
to ColdPlay's "Clocks". Thanks either way for any help.
This music will be included in a video short for a movie about how FOSS is
changing global culture called the "Digital Tipping Point."
We are giving away all of our footage here under a CC by-SA license. We
have 100 hours of forkable footage posted here:

I somehow seem to have acquired a non-context sort-of-patch to add JACK audio and ALSA MIDI support to the orphaned last release of Beatrix. Many thanks to whomever did that!
I had to make a few minor modifications of my own, which, sadly, I'm not allowed to redistribute either.
Basically I added support for Note On Velocity 0's instead of Note Off's, fixed a denormal problem in the whirl (the Leslie) function, made the ALSA MIDI reject events on MIDI channels greater than what it could support, whacked the reverb since I don't use it anyway, and adjusted the Leslie SLOW/FAST code so that it works with the Modwheel (as I'm used to from AZR-3, making Beatrix a drop-in replacement for it).
And, to celebrate, I created a small demo:
http://www.restivo.org/blog/podpress_trac/web/492/0/beatrix-martin-wood-mix…
Please excuse the crappy drumming: I tapped in the drums on pads, since this was all done in Mplayer and jack_capture, no sequencers used... hence the clipping at the end too.
Happy holidays to all!

Hi, I was wondering if there is a collection of "good" presets for
Guitarix somewhere? Rakarrack comes with some useful presets, but
guitarix seems to include none in its default installation.
hi everyone!
i'm shopping for a new 8-way mike preamp with calibrated and steppered
(or digitally controlled) gains (to allow for precisely gain-aligned
soundfield recordings). it should include an a/d converter to adat.
specifically, it should be low-noise and must have a very robust phantom
power section that can take 8 schoeps or other misbehaved phantom
current guzzlers without stress symptoms.
gain of no less than 60dB would be nice.
can anyone recommend anything in the <2k price range? ultimately, i'd
want one of those micstasies with a madiface to go with it, but first i
need something more affordable to earn some cash with :)
i don't much care for input impedance wizardry, i like my mike ins hi-Z,
thank you very much - if i don't want that bright treble, i'll filter it
later... :)
your recommendations are appreciated!
best,
jörn
Hi there,
for a long time I've been wondering where
~/audio-projects/New Project
is coming from, and why it always comes back, no matter how often I
delete it.
Now I found the culprit: lash 0.6.0~rc2
I don't know whether other versions do the same, either way, it's
annoying, and I wonder how to get rid of it.
Regards,
Philipp
