Dear all -
SuperCollider workshops will be taught at the Harvestworks centre in
New York this April (sessions from Sat 4th through Wed 8th). This is a
rare opportunity to learn from some of the developers of this
incredible environment and programming language for music and audio.
It won't all be linux-based but my segments will be conducted in
linux, and linux users will be welcome along for support. Full
details:

Hi,
There is an promising discussion on the debian-dev mailinglist. Maybe
some people who knows more about realtime kernels could join. Also users
who might want to have an realtime kernel in Debian and/or want help
testing could join the discussion. I think it would be nice if there is
also an realtime kernel in Debian or that the default kernel would be
improved for realtime (audio) usage.

Hello,
I'm using the latest Qjackctl in OpenSuse 11.0 (Qjackctl ver. 0.3.4)
and for some reason all the closing buttons in the windows (main
control panel, Messages, Setup, Connections, etc) have disappeared and
there is only maximizing and minimizing. The only way to close a
window is by clicking on the buttons in the main control panel or in
the try icon. I'm pretty sure these buttons where there before (I keep
pressing the maximizing button unconsciously thinking is the close
button). Where they removed or is this a configuration problem in my
system?
Thanks,
Hector
A friend possibly wants to set up a Linux system to teach himself
keyboards. He's currently looking for a weighted MIDI keyboard which
he can do on his own but needs info on what USB-MIDI intersfaces
available online at someplace like Sweetwater or Musician's Friend are
Alsa/Jack compatible. I'm guessing he'll set up Rosegarden and a
couple of soft synths and be very happy.
Does anyone have an up-to-date list of what can be purchased new today
that works? I use a Midiman Midisport 2x2 which I can still find on
Ebay but it's not listed at Sweetwater anymore and everything that is
listed seems WAY too expensive to me for this task. ($80 or higher)
What can a guy buy for $20-$30 that will get MIDI into his laptop?
He's currently distro shopping. Probably he'll go with Ubuntu or CCRMA.
Cheers,
Mark

line 43 in this conf is:

Thought i'd add a pic of a small working setup, using patchage.
This is a quick draft template, for knocking out ideas in a hurry.
It starts automatically from a script while i get the coffee.

I am looking for an ALSA mixer which can be controlled via OSC.
Specifically, I am looking for an OSC-controllable matrix mixer for the
RME HDSP cards (not madi).
What I found was some discussion (dating back from 2004-5) about
integrating OSC into the ALSA library, and a pd-patch for hdspmmixer
(for madi cards).
Does something like this exist, or is someone working on this?

Hi
I'm doing some benchmarking and would like to know the cpu usage of
certain realtime processes. ATM I use htop, but I'd like to make an
automatic test script, and it seems htop cannot be made to output to
stdout and exit. Also "ps aux" seems to be reports wrong cpu usages for
realtime processes.
Which command can I call (from a bash script) to get the actual cpu
usage of a realtime process?

Barely used. If interested, please email me your offer. Originally this
thing cost ~$1,200 (with the PCI-to-PCMCIA cardbus for the desktop
connectivity). Been used on Linux and Windows.
