Hi, Anyone knows how to configure the guitarface controller of miditech (for usb connection). I've been looking for and....in the matrix of alsa-projcet says that is not supported (http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Vendor-Miditech). If anyone knows if it works with another supported chipset....and have gotten make it runs.....please tell me how....i need to make some noiseeee!!!!!!! I'm an ubuntu user in a dell inspiron 6000.... thank's a lot j

[LAU] 1980's cds: analog to digital conversion

Hi all. Was just listening to Iron Maiden's 'Piece of Mind' on cd today. Sounds like absolute crap. I really liked the cassette as a kid...... Anyway, this got me thinking about a conversation I read regarding the process of analog-to-digital conversion on the first computers running 'capable' software......... I've noticed that I do indeed have some aversion to the cd-version of records I otherwise liked on another format (i.e. vinyl or cassette.) So why are there cds that I think actually *do* sound good? How has this process changed? Thanks.

This release on 14th February, 2010 marks five years to the day since the release of 1.0 (which would be be called 05.02 using our current numbering scheme). http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/ With this release, we finally bring an end to the long and difficult job of transforming Rosegarden from an obsolete KDE 3 application into a modern Qt 4 application. There was no precedent for an application following this upgrade path, and so we had to begin this process by writing our own custom porting tools. From there, we spent an entire year chipping away at an immense mountain of compiler errors before we could even get a glimpse to see if our new code was going to work. From that first peek until now swallowed the biggest part of a second year, digging into every dusty corner, and putting everything back in order. Along the way, we found plenty of opportunities to improve Rosegarden, and get this new codebase turned into an exciting landmark release that rivals 1.0 for the sheer amount of collective effort that went into its making. "Audio #3" or "Synth #5") custom names * When recording, the composition title and custom audio instrument name (if provided) are used in the filename in order to make it much easier to work with recorded audio files outside of their original context. A development snapshot, version 1.5c, of MMA--Musical MIDI Accompaniment is available for downloading. Included in this release: - A new track, the Plectrum. This can generate a realistic MIDI guitar. Getting a realistic guitar sound using MIDI has been notoriously difficult as calculating the notes in each chord and strumming patterns can be very tricky. Now the MMA PLECTRUM pattern takes care of most of this for you so all you have to do is to enter the chords names and how when you want each string to be strummed or plucked. [LAU] Yamaha AudioGram compatability with Ubuntu

Hi all, I'm selling my M-Audio 1814 because I never used it again after coming to Linux, one person is interested in a swap+cash for a Yamaha AudioGram 6, very little in answers online, best I can find is "should work in theory" - has someone seen this working on Linux? I'm on Mint 7 / Jaunty at present.

hi, i'm new to this list. please pardon me if this isn't the place to ask questions like this :-) i have a delta 1010lt sound card and used to have it running nicely via envy24 with ubuntu 8.04 i recently upgraded my machine to karmic (9.10) and am having problems. i've seen various posts - some saying that pulse audio is the problem (well the implementation in karmic) and to remove it - others say pulse is ok. so i'm wondering if anyone has experience with this card on karmic and can share what works best. here's what i know .... 1. cat /proc/asound/modules gives 0 snd_ice1712 1 snd_via82xx i believe that 0 is my delta card , 1 is the built in audio on my motherboard. 2. aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: M1010LT [M Audio Delta 1010LT], device 0: ICE1712 multi [ICE1712 multi] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 0: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] Subdevices: 4/4 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 card 1: V8237 [VIA 8237], device 1: VIA 8237 [VIA 8237] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 so again - the card is showing up. 3.
