Hello everyone
Whilst looking at NAMM-related music news yesterday, I stumbled across
something that I thought might be of interest to some people here -- I
don't think it's been mentioned before, apologies if it has.
http://meeblip.noisepages.com/
"What is it?
"MeeBlip is a hackable, affordable digital synthesizer, made for
accessible sound and hands-on control. It can be someone’s first synth.
It can be a unique-sounding addition to your music setup, playable with
MIDI hardware and software. It can be a synth you open up and modify,
learning about sound creation, code, and electronics. Or it can be the
basis of new projects and ideas.
"* Out of the box, a monophonic virtual analog synth.
* Eight user-definable knobs and sixteen slide switches, for hands-on
control with the immediacy of a classic monosynth.
* Tasty digital synth sounds."
And the bit that I thought might be very tempting to some:
"* Use it as-is, or use the source code to remap controls or completely
redefine the instrument’s architecture."
The no-soldering-required, push together kit is $129 and there's a kit
which does require soldering for $79. Schematics are on the website and
code on gitorious.org.
I've got virtually all of my synthesis needs covered already (mostly
analogue with a bit of VA), plus I'm no programmer and not into
circuit-bending or electronics. I'm still kinda tempted though -- good
job I'm broke! But I thought others here might find it interesting.
Kind regards

me to get over there and just accidental idea the $h!t out of you"
In case you're wondering how good MMA generated background tracks can
sound ... I've just completed a recording of the Latin/Cuban song
"Silencio". All recording was done here at "Mellowood Studio" and then
professionally mixed by my friend Oren in Victoria BC. Wonderful how
collaboration over the Internet works. Give a listen and enjoy:

Poor yoshimi's been in quite a bit of bother over the last few weeks.
Having recently defended the stability projections for 0.060.1, it was
a bit embarrassing to learn that it might well eventually prove "stable",
but it was producing 3 or 4 incorrectly pitched notes per octave on some,
but not all 32 bit builds. 64 bit builds were fine.
With some tweaking, ie reverting a couple of clever little "optimisations",
we got it to the point where it was mostly fine, but not on eee netbook
thingies with an Intel Atom N270 cpu. Now that was a merry little chase,
still is. As things stand, I added to the signal handler, clearing all
floating point exceptions on receipt of SIGFPE. So far I've had one test
report that it's now pitching accurately on an Atom N270. I don't have
access to one, so more testing would be welcome. Even if it holds good
with further testing, I figure that's just a workaround, not quite a fix.
Beyond that I'd welcome theories or dissertations on just what the hell I
might be dealing with here.
cheers, Cal
I have a problem here installing a VSTi wich I have on various DVD-isos.
Problem is that when i mount them I can't run the .exe because the iso
gets mounted for root.
I can run the .exe as root but than it will create a .wine folder for
the user, obviously, and install it there.
Anybody knows a way to mount the iso so my user gets rights to
execute .exe-files?

Hello I'm a user of freewheeling and I would like to ask someone with
programming skills:
freewheeling is unmaintained and it would be great to have someone
taking care of bugfixing and jackd compatibility at least. Would
anyone like to do it?
I have at least one nasty bug that doesn't allows me to use

Could I change config file so that:
FreeWheeling library
Could it be fw-lib-date like fw-lib-201001261324? So that my loops
don't get all mix up?
Ardour
Could I record a freewheeling session directly to ardour were track is
letter were loop is:
track "a"
track "dancepad_up"
and so on...
Help Key
How do I change the help Key to the numeric keyboard pad slash? (My
keyboard is a portuguese macintosh layout...)
I think it should be at coreinterface.xml but I don't know the right
name for each key. Looking at the xml I think I better buy a us
keyboard ... I could even do freewheeling stickers
that all for now. Cheers and thanks on advance!

GNU/Linux: Free culture for a free society!
hi *!
i'm trying to get a couple home-spun surround mixes out to friends and
customers. i wonder: is there a way to author dvds under linux with dts
audio tracks? ac3 won't really suffice in terms of sound quality.
better yet, i'd like to use five uncompressed pcm streams, and the
wikipedia article on dvd-video seems to indicate it's possible - has
anyone done it, and will consumer dvd players handle it?
best,
jörn
I was brought up in a southern protestant church (southern = bible
belt in the usa), and this is a hymn that we used to sing very
frequently called are you washed in the blood of the lamb. the only
difference between this and what I heard growing up is that we had no
instruments in our church - it was all 4-part acapella singing.
everything you hear is run through rakarrack into ardour (even the
vocals). honestly, my vocal tuning sucks and the mix sounds like
shit, though I kind of like the guitars. however, I can tell you that
bad tuning is nothing new when it comes to southern hymns :)
http://www.hardbop200.com/misc/washed-in-the-blood.ogg
someone said (it might have been johnny cash) that all you need is
three chords and the truth. this song takes me back to my youth. for
reasons I can't explain, I keep thinking dave phillips might like this
one too, but I don't know why.
enjoy. be gentle.
