Not now, maybe we could come up in the next time with a tutorial like
description how to use the modules to get a special style.

Same here,
funkmuscle makes heavy use of IR-files witch are not included in the

Konzept- und Kompositionswettbewerb
Concept and Composition Competition
My Daily Experiences
Mehrkanal-Audiodateien ausgerichtet; live-elektronische Konzeptionen
sind im Voraus mit der technischen Leitung (Joachim Heintz, Leiter des
Elektronischen Studios der HMTM Hannover) abzusprechen. Klänge in

On the recently redesigned ‘Platz der Weltausstellung’ at the
intersection of Karmarschstraße and Osterstraße in Hannover stand
sixteen street lighting pillars, 11.5 metres apart, forming a 34.5-metre
square. Loudspeakers are set into the pillars at head height, connected
to a computer in the vicinity so that a soundspace can be created on the
square. At predetermined intervals, disembodied sounds impinge on the
everyday life of the square with its soundscape: daily, regularly, but
uniquely.
The City of Hannover Arts Bureau and Musik 21 Niedersachsen invite
musicians, artists and composers from all over the world to submit
concepts and/or compositions for this unique soundspace. Their works
should address, in an inimitable manner, the exceptional situation of
‘music in public space’ and relate to the existing acoustic events of
the square: contrasting with them, integrating them, enhancing awareness
of them or negating them. And they should also take into account the
experiences already proffered by the ‘Sixteen Daily Experiences’
(www.musik21niedersachsen.de).
Concerning the technical facilities: there are sixteen individually
controllable channels. The system is primarily designed to play
multi-channel audio data; live electronic compositions should be
discussed in advance with the technical director, Joachim Heintz, head
of the Electronic Studio at Hannover University of Music, Drama and
Media (HMTM Hannover). Sounds on the margins of human hearing,
especially in the bass, should be avoided. The plan and visual images of
the square are available on www.musik21niedersachsen.de/353.html.
Concepts and/or compositions with coherent and informative
documentation, CV and contact details may be submitted until 15
September 2011 to:

Hi,
I guess this should be a new thread. I also tried to figure out myself
what I'm missing and I asked on Debian users mailing list first. Sorry,
but I've to asked again.
$ uname -a
Linux debian 2.6.39.1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Jun 7 01:40:05 CEST 2011 x86_64
GNU/Linux
I started with my current kernel-rt's config and run make oldconfig.
PREEMPT?
Before I build and installed the kernel I removed all ALSA packages
excepted of libasound2 1.0.23-4, a dependency for the Debian audio
packages. I didn't replace it by a dummy package.
This seems not to be the correct way to use Kernel's ALSA?
I can run
$ jackd --sync -Xalsarawmidi -dalsa -r48000 -p1024
without getting an error message, it's the same for
$ jackd --sync -dalsa -r48000 -p1024
but if I run qjackctl I get
03:11:54.885 Patchbay deactivated.
03:11:54.887 Statistics reset.
03:11:54.913 Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client. ALSA
MIDI patchbay will be not available.
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq
failed: Permission denied
Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started
E.g. no alsaconf.
The "Xilinx RME Hammerfall DSP MADI" is the RME HDSPe AIO, shouldn't the
name be correct for the new driver/firmware?
When running Jack, instead of showing the name DSP MADI and two MIDI
devices for the DSP MADI, there's no name and only one MIDI device for
the first card, hence the driver/firmware was switched?

I stopped trying to get ALSA 1.0.24 for the current kernel-rt working,
regarding to several recommendations to use kernel 2.6.39.
There's still some information I'll read ...

Hello Q!
As always this is a superb piece of composition and production. I especially
like the drumming. It's magnificent. When first listening to it, I thought it
was good, but after a few relistens, I had to revise my opinion. :-) I really
do like the fact, that you have so much Tron in there, but hide it or use it
in untypical ways. It creates a very specific sound.
Good to hear someone to perform punctuated playing and calcualted pauses to
impressive effect.
You create some very dense clouds of sounds without muddying it, which is
sublime, something I have trouble, when tracks get out of hand. :-)
Only one small criticism: The drums in the last part are a bit too distored
for my liking. From what I've read, that's intentional. Still my aural taste
buds disagree, if only slightly. Yet, that is nought but a luxury problem. :-)
And I suppose it is expected of me, to find something to criticise on drums.
:-)
Very well done, already looking forward to the next section! No pressure.
:-)
Oddly metred yours
Julien

Hello everyone!
I will probably travel to Amsterdam at the end of June (26-28) to meet a
friend, whom I know through music. Unfortunately I can't stay, where he will
be since, it's a small private place. So can anyone suggest a cheap hostel or
something like that or put me up? My friend will be somewhere near the
Grensstraat exit of wilbautstraat station, if that's any help. but I think
anything not too far from that area, which is close to another station will
do.
Thanks a lot!
Warm regards
Julien

Hello all,
Is there any way to use logical device nammes instead of
'hw:a.b' when setting up Qjackctl ? It seems like the
easiest way to deal with hw device numbers changing on
each boot, but I haven't found a way to do it.
Editing ~/.jackdrc doesn't work, it just gets overwritten
with the (wrong) hw device names (and I wonder why this
is done).
Ciao,

Ways Ahead
First International Csound Conference
September 30 - October 2 2011, HMTM Hannover, Germany
Incontri, the Institute for new music at the University of Music, Drama
and Media Hannover, is proud to host the first International
Csound Conference. Csound, more than 25 years after its creation, has
changed in many ways during the years, and so has the situation of
computer music in general. What is the role of Csound in current
electronic music practice, teaching and learning? What are the
challenges, potentials, and perspectives of the ways ahead? This meeting
looks to provide discussion between developers and users, and to show
aspects of the Csound Language in papers, workshops, installations, and
a concert.
CALL FOR PAPERS
As this conference is mainly focused on the present situation and
further development of Csound, papers which discuss this topic in regard
to the technology, the community, the documentation or the ways of
learning, are mostly welcome. But you are also encouraged to send any
paper which deals with any Csound related content.
Papers should be about 4-8 pages. Please use the templates found here:
http://www.incontri.hmtm-hannover.de/uploads/media/CsoundConfTemplates.zip
Please upload your paper at
www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=csndc2011 . If you have no
easychair account, you will be asked to create one first.
Paper draft submission: June 15
Notification of acceptance: July 15
Final Paper submission: September 1
CALL FOR WORKSHOPS
Please describe the topic on which you like to hold a workshop, and what
you need (time frame, technics, optimal number of participants, etc).
Please upload your description in html format at
www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=csndc2011 . If you have no
easychair account, you will be asked to create one first.
Workshop draft submission: June 15
Notification of acceptance: July 15
CALL FOR MUSIC
There will be a concert on october 1st with pieces which were made
mainly with Csound, either fixed media or with live electronics (maximum
eight speakers). In addition, sound installations can be performed
during the conference in the foyer of the HMTMH. Please send your
suggestions by ordinary mail to Joachim Heintz, HMTM Hannover,
Emmichplatz 1, D-30175 Hannover. Each submission must contain:
1. A CD or DVD with the files to be played at the conference (aiff or wav).
2. A CD with a stereo mixdown of your work.
3. A short presentation of the piece.
4. A short biography of the creator(s).
5. A signed copy of
- http://www.incontri.hmtm-hannover.de/uploads/media/ConcertAgreement.pdf or
-
http://www.incontri.hmtm-hannover.de/uploads/media/InstallationAgreement.pdf
in which the creator(s) agree(s) to the condition for the
concert/installation.
Our abilities to perform Videos are rather poor; so if you submit works
containing images you must accept compromises in performing them.
Submission deadline: July 1
Notification of acceptance: August 1
The Csound Conference is held by Incontri, the electronic studio in the
institute for new music at HMTM Hannover, Germany, in cooperation with
the institute of journalism and communication research, with kind
support from the following institutions:
Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer elektroakustische Musik, Germany
Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA
