Hi,
AFAIK, no compilation flags are needed to enable jack support for pd-ext.
http://puredata.info/docs/developer/BuildingPdExtended
After starting qjack, Have you already tried launching pd from terminal with
pdextended -jack channels 2 <your patch name>
?
I don't know kxstudio, but IMHO it's unlikely that Pd would kick out jack.
Here Ubuntu Lynx AudioPro customized, pd-ext 0.42.5.

I use kxstudio which allows all audio to be routed to jack by default.
However, when starting pd-extended 0.42.5 jack is killed and this makes life
rough.
Do I need to recompile pd manually in order to make it play nice?
Thanks for any input.

Hi Julien :)
With a Theremin. I found a simple circuit, sorry it's a jpeg
http://forum.musikding.de/cpg/albums/userpics/17258/Simple_Theremin.jpg
I could solder it for you, but I don't have all components on stock,
lets phone. OTOH, it's very simple, dunno if it's a good Theremin.

Ralf

Good argument! Rui any idea?

Hi Ralf :)
I can't say for sure, but I don't think so.
A solution might be, to run Qtractor as MIDI timecode slave, e.g. by a
drum machine as master, so you could use the BPM control of the drum
machine to change speed of Qtractor during performance, assumed that MTC
is ok, sometimes it can be tricky.
Ciao,
Ralf
Hello Everyone!
It's perhaps a bit off topic. But how to best go about creating a Theremin
sound? I mean, I've tried, but with very mixed results. I'm still not sure
about the basic waveform to choose. Should it be sine or highly
smoothed/filtered sawtooth? The vibrating aspect of the sound: Go for vibrato
or tremolo or both? What do you say?
Thanks for reading and kind regards
Julien

Hi!
Thankfully, as an act of mercy within the punishment, an act that I will
forever carry in my heart, Gwenhwyfaer took the time to inform me that
they killfiled me like other before, because of my tone and being annoying.
Now I feel it's my duty to warn all of you to take care and watch your

they will not tolerate their interpretation of your words, if it ends up
nasty, for long.
While it seems nothing can redeem my hideous acts and free me from this
hell, I hope I can save a few souls, this way.
Also, it would be unkind to not offer an opportunity to test the
filtering, though such an expert on email who even knows the great value
of sending one mail twice hardly could make a mistake there.
By the love of all that is holy, please refrain from taking the risk of

My bad :)
anyway, it should work as a remote control for the tempo, while
assigning a CC to Qtractor's tempo won't be that good, regarding to one
data byte = 128 values only. OTOH if more people would like to have such
a feature, it wouldn't be impossible to increment or decrement the
song's predefined BPM up to 64 values, ignoring the decimal digit for
the BPM.
Cheers,
Ralf
