Sorry never tried this one...

The Edirol UA-25Ex is very good and very well supported in Linux.
Mine has served me well for years.
One thing though: if your USB port is of type EHCI, check exactly
which version you have (using lspci) and google it before!
I'm saying this because I changed laptop few months ago, and some EHCI
USB ports have a bug that makes Jack/Alsa and USB 1 soundcard not
working at all...
I'm now using a M-Audio Fast-Track Ultra (USB2, so I don't have issues
with EHCI anymore), but it's not 100% supported yet (although the Alsa
developers are working on it)...
Hope this helps!

Hey All,
I was quite fond of a certain VST plugin called Glitch:
http://illformed.org/plugins/glitch/
Its essentially a drum "stretcher", "retrigger", "shuffler", "gater" etc..
all in one.
Pretty cool stuff, load it up and you've got a much more entrataining drum
loop!
The plugin works under FST, but latencies on my system make it impractical
for live use.
So I'm searching for alternatives... any suggestions? All native linux
suggestions welcome!
Cheers, -Harry
All,
Hoping someone cane give me a lead with this one. I have a Lenvo T60
laptop with OpenSuSE 11.2 installed.
I'm trying to process an external signal plugged into the laptop's
microphone input but when I run Qjackctl the program does not list
anything under Readable Clients/ Output Ports.
I know the microphone input works because I can listen to signals
plugged into it and I can control the volume etc. Capture is selected
with my mixer so I know that it the signal is captured and I can
record it with Audacity for example..
I know Qjackctl is working because when other programs such as
AlsaModularSynth or Rosegarden are run all the various inputs and
outputs appear in Qjackctl's Connections window.
So why doesn't Qjackctl see my laptops external microphone input?
Thank you very much for any help.

IMO it's better to do a commercial similar to this one, instead of
uphold current "cultures".
"Because you know if you play New Kids on the Block albums backwards
they sound better. "Oh come on, Bill, they're the New Kids, don't pick
on them, they're so good and they're so clean cut and they're such a
good image for the children." Fuck that! When did mediocrity and
banality become a good image for your children? I want my children to
listen to people who fucking ROCKED! I don't care if they died in
puddles of their own vomit! I want someone who plays from his fucking
HEART!"

Hey all,
I'm trying to get the reverb/chorus effects working on the above
versions of Qsynth/fluidsynth and the Fluid soundfont, but turning
them on and fiddling with the parameters yields no noticable change in
the sound. Are the effects bugged or am I just Doing It Wrong?
Thanks,
Andrew.
Hi all,

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to make a good sounding rataplan on an electronic
snare-drum.
I'm not looking for the typical army-snare but rather the funky style:
just hit the snare and keep applying pressure to the stick so that it
bounces a few times. Some kind of electronic equivalent of
http://gareus.org/_media/pub/misc/wirbel3.mp3
I tried short sequences of 64th or 48th notes in hydrogen (various
drum-kits) and seq24 (general-midi jazz-kit) - to no avail.
Do I miss a specific sound-font? Is there a trick
(echo/slap-back/reverb)? I would not say no to Csound or supercollider
synth. Anything that I can trigger with MIDI is fine.
Thanks in advance for any hints,
robin
Regarding to the price, pardon, but are you serious? > 300 US$!?
For my PC it's no problem to go over 10m for USB 2.
For what usage are you thinking about "up to 100 m (328 ft.)"?
C'mon ;). Nice question, anyway, I suspect that this never ever will
work for any kind of live performance. Your flat is that large? Helge
Schneider cut his ermine cape when the Ferrari catch it, while he was in
a hurry, running through his flat.

doesn't work for my machine too. Nvidia proprietary and xorg nv, even
xorg vesa are ok.
Funny digest from my xorg.conf ...
Driver "nvidia"
#Driver "nv"
#Driver "nouveau"
#Driver "vesa"
Here the proprietary seems to be the best choice.
