Hey guys!
A new batch completed and uploaded (droning159-169). Very diverse tunes
this time, from arpeggios to quiet dull drones to rhythmic textures. Some
evil sounding dark ambient in there as well.
Big thanks to my friend Ulin, who helped me clean up recording artefacts in
droning159.

Enjoy!

Hi list,
two days ago I had an idea how one might de-clip audio files.
Description and code can now be found on github:
https://github.com/kripton/audio-declipper
Feedback is very welcome!
Is it useful?
Am I doing s.th. substantially wrong?
More ideas besides linear and sine-based interpolation?
Such stuff better to be posted to linux-audio-dev?
Best regards,
Jannis
Hallo people.
is there way to fix sampling rate from 48kHz to 32kHz.
prompt$ file clip.wav
clip.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16
bit, stereo 48000 Hz
Bad information in header causes file is played very fast.
best regards,
Paul
Hello everyone1
|Well more of a sound test and proof of concept. It leaves a lot to be
desired, such as better playing, more thought, more frizzling effects... You
get the picture. Still I wanted to share it.
An attempt at dubstep:
http://juliencoder.de/q/test.mp3
It's mainly my NordLead3 (virtual analogue synth). the bass is made up of 24
stacked oscillators multiplied by the five oscillators used for its unison
mode. Everything else - except for the drumkit - is NordLead too. The drumkit
is Korg Triton. It will do for now. Maybe some time later, I will go back and
do something more elaborate and honestly ernest with it. :-)
Any feedback on the sounds and basic production is welcome.
Without wax yours

I'd like to be able to use jackd with both mpd at 44.1k and vlc at
48k. I've been doing this by killing jackd and starting it with a
different rate specification and connecting to the new ports with
jack_connect. Is there a better way?
What would you guys recommend for controlling the ALSA volume on one
machine via another machine? There is a network link between the
machines, but the only protocol connecting them now is netjack.

Hello everyone1
It seems, that nothing new gets created and I just dig through the archives
these days. Well true enough. Here is something from around 2005:
http://juliencoder.de/nama/the_hour_glass.ogghttp://juliencoder.de/nama/the_hour_glass.mp3
Or from the website:
http://juliencoder.de/nama/music.html
Instruments used: my - then new - Yamaha DX7, the Clavia NordLead3 and
fluidsynth for the bass, drums and tron flute. It was recorded and processed
in pure Ecasound at the time, as was usual.
The musical inspiration is responsible for its title. It was a bit of
incidental music from the German radio dramatisaion of Terry Pratchett's
"Mort" (Gevatter Tod). A lovely radioplay for the German speaking folk on this
list. Lots of lovely music, interpreted by the characters themselves sometimes
and lots of action and life in the dramatisation. Unusual, but charming. :-)
Feedback, although it's old, is welcome. Enjoy!
Warm regards
Julien

We are happy to announce the next issue of the Linux Audio Conference
(LAC), May 9-12, 2013 @ IEM, the Institute of Electronic Music and
Acoustics, in Graz, Austria.
The Linux Audio Conference is an international conference that brings
together musicians, sound artists, software developers and researchers,
working with Linux as an open, stable, professional platform for audio
and media research and music production. LAC includes paper sessions,
workshops, and a diverse program of electronic music.
*Call for Papers, Workshops, Music and Installations*
We invite submissions of papers addressing all areas of audio processing
and media creation based on Linux. Papers can focus on technical,
artistic and scientific issues and should target developers or users. In
our call for music, we are looking for works that have been produced or
composed entirely/mostly using Linux.
The online submission of papers, workshops, music and installations is
now open at
http://lac.iem.at/
The Deadline for all submissions is February 4th, 2013 (23:59 HAST)
You are invited to register for participation on our conference website.
There you will find up-to-date instructions, as well as important
information about dates, travel, lodging, and so on.
This year's conference is hosted by IEM, Graz, in cooperation with local
artists and FLOSS enthusiasts.
The Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) at the University
of Music and Performing Arts Graz is considered Austria's leading
institution in computer music, acoustics and audio engineering and has
gained international reputation for its research on spatial audio and
its artistic production and research.
IEM has been embracing Linux audio as a production and research
environment since the mid-1990s, and has contributed to FLOSS/Linux
projects, amongst others by providing drivers for multichannel audio
interfaces and hosting the Pure Data community portal and mailing lists.

We look forward to seeing you in Graz in May!

Hi,
I've a qnap nas server (with Debian installed) and I like to play music
(and video) from that server on my n900, laptop etc.
What is the best way to do this?

Hi all,
There are references floating around the internet to a patch Torben
Hohn wrote to improve the Jack plugin for ALSA, but his site seems to be
down... does anyone either a) still have that patch somewhere, or b)
know if it was incorporated into mainline ALSA at some point?
Thanks,
Sean Corbett
