Hi, not sure about pd, but in supercollider you can call a .grab() method
on HID objects that will block other software, even X, to have access to
them.

Hi all,
just to introduce myself. I'm a developer mainly in C++ and Java on Linux
platform. In my free time I like to play jazz guitar. To accompany my
improvisation practicing I has been using MIDI files generated by MMA. To
facilitate writing of MMA files and playing them back I created LinuxBand.
I hope you'll enjoy it.

LinuxBand is a GUI front-end for MMA (Musical MIDI
Accompaniment)<http://www.mellowood.ca/mma/>.
Type in the chords, choose the groove and LinuxBand will play a musical
accompaniment for you.
It’s an open source alternative to Band-in-a-Box featuring:
- Easy to use graphical interface
- Open and well-documented data format
- Output to JACK Midi <http://jackaudio.org/> to facilitate co-operation
with other audio applications

It's official I'm selling the real Ardour Tablet
With so many discussions about Ardour and real audio apps running on a
Tablet, I decided to offer for sale the original Trinity DAW.

Hi all,
Crossposting this to the pure data mailing list and linux audio users as it
concerns PD and the linux OS also.
I'd like to be able to use a second mouse as an input device for
controlling synthesis in Pure Data. (Well, actually, it's a trackball I'd
like to use - much more fun, but I believe equivalent as far as the
computer is concerned.)
However, I am not aware of a way to connect a second mouse without the
operating system treating it the same as the first mouse - i.e., having it
control the cursor.
The first, obvious disadvantage of this state of affairs is that my cursor
would then be flying around the screen and probably clicking on all manner
of disruptive, destructive things whenever I use the controller. The
second, possibly more serious, disadvantage is that I believe the input
would then be limited to the dimensions of the screen. For what I'd like to
do, it's essential that I be able to continue to move infinitely in any
direction, without being limited to the dimensions of an arbitrary frame.
Is there a way to achieve this without the problems above? In other words,
is it possible to get linux/X to ignore the mouse, and for PD to get the
movement data straight from the device? (Is this a job for [hid]?) Any
advice on either front would be appreciated. I am asking now as I would
like to be certain that this is possible before I shell out £30 or so on
the trackball.
Thanks, all!
James
P.S. Bonus question: At some point in the future, I'd also like to attempt
something similar with a second keyboard. If anyone can answer the question
identical to the one above except with the work 'keyboard' substituted in
for the word 'mouse', I'd be grateful for that too.
Thanks to Al Thomson pointer to look at 'normalize' I have found that my
equipment (just a vanilla sound card) has/introduces some DC offset.
How to remove it? Why does it come?
Here's a little video I recently made. The video sequencing was done with
Imagination; background track with MMA; audio mix Audacity (all on linux).
Only the actual recording was not on Linux ... direct to a digital recorder
connected to my mixer.
Hope you all enjoy. Sort of sentimental for today's audiences ... but I
love old show tunes :)

Hi, I've created a simple as dirt soundfont in swami, and I'd like to
use it in musescore, but I'm not getting any sound. First thing, the
soundfont plays allright in qsynth.
In musescore I create a new score with a random instrument (say
Violin), then load the soundfont in Display -> Synthesizer. Then I
enter some notes in the Violin part, but I get no sound. The notes
entered are in the correct midi range for the soundfont - to check I
enabled Jack midi output in musescore and looked at what midi it was
sending while playing the violin part.
How does musescore associate an instrument in the score to one in the
soundfont?
I tried opening the "Staff Properties..." and changing the long
instrument name from "Violin" to "baba" - that's exactly how I called
both the instrument and the "melodic preset" in swami, but still I get
no sound.
It would be perfect if someone could provide a simple .sf2 and .mscz
that "work" together, so I could hack on that.
best wishes,
renato
I've been a user of MOD Plug Tracker on Windows making chiptunes. I've
tried using wine, but it crashes too much. Does anyone have any
suggestions for a good tracker for Linux?
