hdsp emergency

Hi list - i have an installation that's been running for a week and has suddenly failed. Uses ubuntu 11.10 and a hdsp/multiface setup. What is happening is Jack is failing to start There is a "D-BUS: JACK server could not be started" error when QjackCtl is launched and within the messages window there are the following errors/messages: 12:27:20.152 Patchbay activated. 12:27:20.155 Statistics reset. 12:27:20.166 ALSA connection change. 12:27:20.174 D-BUS: Service is available (org.jackaudio.service aka jackdbus). 12:27:20.261 D-BUS: JACK server could not be started. Sorry Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory Cannot connect to server socket jack server is not running or cannot be started Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory Cannot connect to server socket jack server is not running or cannot be started 12:27:20.291 ALSA connection graph change. OT: releasing music under Creative Commons

I'm sure a lot of you have experience distributing your music under a Creative Commons license so I'd like some of your thoughts. My band finished recording a full length album recently, and we are planning on releasing it under CC-BY-NC-SA. Our plan is to sell our album with a "Name your price" deal. But if you choose to pay over a certain amount (like $12 or so) you also get a T-shirt and a sticker (or some other sort of gifts). We have done something like this in the past with our demos. We gave them away for free but also accepted donations. A lot of people paid us nothing, but a few people were quite generous! How do you make money with this sort of license? Has anyone done something similar with their pricing model? Are there other pricing models that you prefer? What were your experiences, and how were the results? -Kris

csound + cecilia and jack on ubuntu

hi all, i've been working on some patches in cecilia/csound and would like to play them back through jack. there is nothing in the cecilia config to select this. i have found and installed the csound-jack package (after converting it from a .rpm with alien), but i don't know how to get this to work. there is also a switch which apparently makes csound run in jack mode (-+rtaudio=jack), but i'm not sure how to use it with cecilia any ideas, anyone? cheers, -- robin http://fu.ac.nz - Auckland's Free University

Onboard the blues - 4 to da fl| mix :-)

The rest is Roland XP-30 for the drums and clavia Nordlead 3 for the other sounds. Dave, I hope, that you aren't going to hate me for this. :-) My objective for this mix: A bass, that will do your digestion for you, a high end, that will shred the brain and a dynamic range of a tea spoon. I hope I succeeded. It was fun doing it. When the technical parts finally worked, it was great! :-) Thanks for a very cool and driving song! Oh yes, I raised the tempo by 5%, when the mix was done. Not the best way to do it, but it does work. :-) Feedback is - as always - welcome.
