Hello,
Does anyone know of a good plugin that will generate subharmonics?
I would like to put a little more low frequency "oomph" into my bass
track. Preferrable LADSPA, but VST would work, too.
Thanks for any help!

PreScript: apologies for prematurely sending this email unfinished: on
the road, with a foreign keyboard and up too late rarely results in
anything good!!
ahoy all,
first, thanks for all the music, tools, tips and time that all of
you have shared in this community. i have been following these lists
for some time, getting lots of help and inspiration as i stumbled my
way around the GNU+Linux audio world.
and now i am happy to share something as well: "demonstrate (from
where to Now: volume 2)" by our music group "in-giro"
http://in-giro.xyz
created mainly with Ardour 3 alpha/beta (thanks Carl and Paul
especially for all the MIDI help!), the album was recorded "in giro"
(Italian for roughly "in motion, on the move"), in all aspects of the
phrase. the suite is a rock opera, with tracks 1-9 (of 10) flowing
gaplessly. thus, i recommend downloading the album (free) to
(hopefully!) enjoy it as intended from the first track onward.
currently the 'web site' is just a very thin veneer around the
ubiquitous Bandcamp widget, (with the so-called 'single', track 7,
playing if no other track is selected), so there will unfortunately be
awkward pauses between the songs if streamed directly. as further
incentive to listen offline, the downloaded ZIP file also includes the
libretto PDF containing hand-drawn lyrics, additional artwork and
credits.
speaking of credits, i would like to mention in particular 2
people who i met on these lists while developing "demonstrate":
- long time GNU+Linux audio engineer Rich Wielgosz
http://richwielgosz.com mixed+mastered the album, IMHO doing a great
job with some sketchy source material (we are learning how to record
as we go!)
- musician, composer and list contributor Q
https://soundcloud.com/quirq-uk helped with production and creative
feedback
finally, i would appreciate any comments: technical, creative,
proper email etiquette, whatever! thanks sincerely in advance for
taking the time to read/listen.
peace, w
PostScript: i am currently on the road for a good bit, so while i will
eventually respond to any replies, please be aware that it may take
some time ;)
PostPostScript: apologies again for the double post and false start!!!!
Hi list. Requesting verification of a bug:
After upgrading from *buntu 14.04 LTS to 16.x, the LV2 Gtk2 UIs
such as Calf and others crash upon opening them in both
Qt5 QTractor and Qt5 MusE-3, at these similar calls:
QTractor: In qtractorLv2Plugin.cpp
QWidget *pQtContainer = QWidget::createWindowContainer(pQtWindow, pQtWidget);
MusE: In lv2host.cpp:
ewWin = QWidget::createWindowContainer(x11QtWindow);
The crash ultimately happens deep inside the Qt5 libraries at the
same place in both apps :
QXcbWindow::setParent()
I tried building Calf from source release, and tried different
video cards. NG.
But... If I bypass createWindowContainer() in MusE the UIs open and work fine!
(Just that now of course they are outside of the container window.)
It's Qt 5.5.1
I read about a bug fix and revert where they assumed always a valid screen
but then had to revert, but that's supposed to be fixed now.
I'm confused.
Is it just me getting these crashes?
Thanks.
Tim.
Hi,
This past March my band 'Rated Blue' had a CD Release party for our EP
'Three Walls Down' we set up 3 cameras and filmed it and I hadn't looked
at the footage until recently when I decided to take a stab at editing it
with Cinelerra-CVA (the custom version found in AV Linux). In addition I
post-processed the camera Audio in Ardour 4.7 from the 3 camera audio
tracks.
The videos range from clips to full songs and feature some original songs
from Three Walls Down, some songs to be on our next full length album to
be recorded this summer and some of our favorite covers.
I've kind of lost all objectivity about the actual songs and performances,
but we had a great turnout of over 100 people for the show and I got to
share the stage with both family and friend so to me the footage is worth
preserving for that reason alone.
Despite all the bitching out there about Cinelerra Video Editor I found
working with it and managing and aligning 3 separate streams of
audio/video + titles to be very easy, straightforward and so far with
about 20+ hours of editing time invested I've only had one crash. Post
production of the Audio in Ardour was also effortless as expected. Lastly
the overlay titling was done in GIMP. The OS used was AV Linux 2016 64bit.

Hi list,
I am trying to render a spectrogram from a soundfile as I would do using
the SoX spectrogram effect, or sndfile-spectrogram from sndfile-tools
but with a logarithmic frequency axis. It is alright if the analysis
remains linear, but the plotting should be done in log. Is there any
solution that can be used on a shell without gui, and that is slightly
less work than writing it in Octave?
Thank you for all recommendations!
best, Peter

This thread could be a watchdog thread, in which case a priority of 95
should be unproblematic.
The glitches and XRUNS you see are probably due to other reasons
than thread priorities. Renoise is probably doing some time consuming things
in the jack thread, or is the victim of priority inversion, or waiting for
a non-realtime thread doing some work.

Hi,
Some of you might enjoy this downtempo track which has a selection of
samples taken from archival material recorded in the Arctic ocean over 30
years ago.
https://youtu.be/RC82Xu5Al6w
Seems to provide something to ponder given the current temperature at the
Arctic and other recent meteorological data like the sustained 400ppm that
we are now seeing in the Southern Hemisphere.
Be warned! We are entering new territory here so this might not be to
everyones taste...
