Hi list,
I have been search the archives and the web a bit and it seems there is
no easy way to route html5 audio playback from firefox through jack on
Debian testing.
Is this still the case or has there been recent development that might
enable it? What would have to be done to make it work? This
functionality is the last piece in my puzzle to finally get rid of
flash.
thanks for pointers,
P
Hi there!
ShowQ is a unique cue-player for Linux-Audio-Users. I use it as a core
application for my theater activities.
Even in the linux-community it's not a very well known application,
although there's no other linux-program (I know) if you need a
one-shot-audio-player with features like f.e. programmable fade-in,
fade-out, no matter if you want it time-based or triggered by space (or
another key).
It can do a lot more - ShowQ has MIDI-support. Although I never tested
this feature, it should be possible to control any application with
MIDI-support. QLC(+) f.e. - or maybe some video-players do support MIDI
- I don't know...
Yeah, of course, ShowQ is not a drop in replacement for QLAB, but
speaking about audio it fits quiet perfectly in my setup.
ShowQ is in the Debian (and Ubuntu?) repositories, it's written in C++
and of course released under the terms of the GPL. Although this app is
quiet useful for technicians like me, the development stopped years ago.
I am not a coder, but I do my best to keep this project alive. On the
Debian bug-tracker I write bug-reports for ShowQ, hoping that on one
hand it's useful for other users to work around problems, on the other
hand that someone fixes them.
Last time I reported a bug Jaromír Mikeš the Debian-maintainer of ShowQ
wrote that he is not able to fix the bugs and he would like to kick
ShowQ. Of course, he also would like to package an alternative if there
would be some he could package.
I don't know any - so my linux-based theater setup is about to be killed
one day when ShowQ wouldn't compile on my debian machine, anymore.
So, what do I want from you?
Test ShowQ! Maybe it's the app you've been missing for a long time!
And if you're a coder with C++-skills, check out my bugreports on
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?repeatmerged=no&src=showq
- maybe you've got the clue...
OR: Got an alternative to ShowQ? You're welcome!
Greets!

Hey there,
I just uploaded a small photo studio tour. It's not much. But I had a nice
lady over yesterday, who enthusiastically took a few pix. She's in web design
and wondered if I had a gallery online and thus helped getting it started. She
isn't responsible for the actual - nonexistent - layout:

Enjoy and feel free to comment or ask questions.
Best wishes,
Jeanette

Hello.
Debian 8.7 here.
Trying to build Sonic Visualiser 3.0 or 3.0.1
./configure
[...] blah
configure: Failed to find required module capnp using pkg-config,
trying again by old-fashioned means configure: error: Failed to find
appropriate capnp library
But i have installed :
i capnproto
i libcapnp-0.5.3
i libcapnp-dev
i libpcapnav0
i libpcapnav0-dev
Do i missed a package/library ? Or Debian 8.7 is already too old to
build Sonic Visualiser 3.0 / 3.0.1 ?
Any help/advice would be appreciate.

It's a very effective selection: one FM/PM synth, a wavetable, a hybrid
analogue, a pure analogue, the Clav and two sample based instruments,
where the Korg is mostly useful as a 76 keyboard with good action. Next
thing on the list, since forever, is a drum machine, analogue or again
hybrid. The Tempest would be lovely, but the UI is a little awkward if
you can't see. I've been ogling another pure analogue one though, which
has the advantage of being a little less expensive, if less rich in
features, but superb in sound. :)

I have to come back on this - sorry I made a mistake this test (above) I made was with the older release!
Now i installed the NEW release. I am impressed you made the GxTuner completely as I asked before it - thanks for that. This is working. The neadle is kalm
as if it in a the oil, the needle react not that nervous anymore.
Beside the BUILD DEPENDENCY’S I had to install:
sudo apt-get install build-essential libgtk-3-dev
I can't work without a good functioning tuner/frequency-meter, beside that Kmeter. That my starting point.
Did you know how Martin the Beatles songs produced, tuner/tuning/tuning all the way long, and he's not the only one.

Hey hey,
I recently tried to get PD to work on my Arch system, using the "official"
pacman package (version 0.47.1).
Thanks to Iohannes, I was made aware of the -nogui option, so I ran a patch
like this:
pd -nogui -jack -alsamidi patch.pd
The patch is also from last year. This results in a lot of errors, like these:
prvu~
error: ... couldn't create
verbose(4): ... you might be able to track this down from the Find menu.
sin~
error: ... couldn't create
average~ 1000
error: ... couldn't create
...
and similar. Using the jack option PD also segfaults. Without using that, it
can't find an audio device and just talks to its watchdog.
JACK is also system supplied and works with everything else. It's run under
the same user. Even giving the option to set the samplerate doesn't change
anything.
Any ideas, what I could try? Perhaps some special system variable setting a
path?
Thanks and goodnight,
Jeanette

Hey hey,
I've decided to unearth a few early works. These two songs are from 2002, the
first ever "album" recorded with Linux. Equipment and the software setup were
laughably simple and awkward, the overall performance lacks the quality and
precision I demand of myself today. But there is a leverty and a carefree
personality in them that I can't reproduce or improve.

and

If anyone is interested: the synths used were a Roland XP-30 (jv/xp series), a
Clavia Nordlead 3 and on "Summer Afternoon" also a Zoom RT123 drum computer
(sample-based). Recorded in Ecasound and mixed offline using Ecasound internal
effects and some LADSPA plugins.
Feedback is always welcome, eve in this case. :)
Enjoy and best wishes,
Jeanette

O.k you know how it works = great thank! This is the only Tuner I got
working in Ubuntu Studio. What I mean by it was not easy to with the
little knob to get in the exact tuning say 435Hz than the steps it takes
are more like 435.2 e.t.c.
